Seller's remorse

No regrets here:D The few I have ever sold were guns I just didn't like. If I like a gun would never sell or trade it:)

Silly me, I traded a 2 1/2" Colt Diamondback in .22 some years back,do you know what they sell for nowdays. What was I thinking.

I am now regretting selling 2 SKS rifles. One Chinese, one Yugo. I bought both of them at a gunshow paid $160 for both of them. Both had 30 rnd mags. During the Clinton induced dark ages for mag capaicity I sold both for $550.
I am now looking for a replacement for use when I move to my new place. Cheapest I have found is $298 Romanian. Replacable yes. At the price I paid 13 years ago not a chance.

Honestly, looking back on what my collection was and what I have now, I don't really regret selling any of the guns I sold. If I sold a gun it was to replace it with a higher quality firearm.

Traded in my first centerfire revolver...

... a GP100 stainless, 4", adj sight model I'd picked up in college. Traded in on a used series 70 Colt 1911; regretted it almost instantly. That particular 1911 was of the "reliable due to ridiculously loose tolerances" school; IE I couldn't group with it. Considering that I'd shoot sharpshooter that same year with old GI 1911's, I can pretty reasonably blame the pistol...

Anyway, I kicked myself over that GP100 until spring of 2008, when I finally picked up another one, slightly used but nicely modified by a gunsmith friend of mine in Florida. Trust me, I won't be selling this one.

I mildly regret selling off a Colt Officer's Model. Other than that, nah. The problem with buying guns is that even when renting them, you rarely get strong cues as to spending the rest of your life with it. At least when test driving a car, you can get it on the highway and really see what it can do within reason. That and cars are more "disposable" than are firearms.

Slow fire using overpriced range ammo? Not so much. Extensively wringing out rifles? Forget it.

Everything I sold save that Colt was good riddance.

As several others have said, everything I've sold I either didn't really need, or replaced it with something I liked better.

Can't own 'em all...not at one time, anyway. :)

One Regret, One Question Mark, One Happy About

I sold a Beretta 96D Centurion with Night Sights. It was beautiful. I thought I was going to sell it and buy another gun. Then I started to waiver and just put the money in my fun money fund.

I traded a S&W 686 P for a Ruger Super Redhawk. I love the Redhawk but should have just bought it and kept the S&W.

I traded a shotgun for a boat. That deal was great. I have better shotguns for every purpose and didn't really need that one. Nice little boat for duck hunting in the swamps nearby.

Thankfully, I've never sold a gun that I wished I'd had back, but I've sold a couple guitars that would bring 5X the cash today and a few motorcycles that I really miss, too.

No regrets. I've only sold or traded four guns and they were all guns I did not care for.

No, wait a minute... I swapped .22 Remington TargetMasters with my Mom when I was a kid. I realized shortly after the trade that she got the better of me and she wouldn't trade back. Learned a couple of valuable lessons -- (1) don't let a cosmetic blemish get in the way of a good shooter and (2) Mom was smarter than me.

Guns I've sold: Texas Mac10, Norinco 1957 SKS, Ruger 10-22, Remington 700 22-250, Older S&W Police 38 special, Taurus Pt-99, Mac de Arms .38 snubnose knock-off of a S&W.

Of those guns, the only one I regret selling was the Mac de Arms .38 - It was my first gun, and a pretty decent knock-off of the S&W. I've never since been able to locate another one. I doubt that it's worth anything - I just wish I still had that gun.

Cars I've sold: The only car I've sold worth mentioning was a restored 1964 1/2 Mustang Convertible - V8 with factory 4-speed manual transmission. I drove the crap out of that car for 5 years, and it drove the crap out of my bank account just keeping it driveable. I have no regret at all selling that car!! In fact, it cured me of ever wanting to own a "classic" car, unless it's built on a modern frame with modern fuel injected engine, cooling system and modern 6 speed transmission. Some day that's exactly what I intend to do with a 1960-1962 style Corvette - give me that classic look on a modern frame with all new engine and components. They just don't make cars the way they used to.....and thank heaven for that!!

Motorcycles I've sold: 1976 Honda CB 550F - I restored it and when I sold it I was glad to see it go - don't want it back either. Kawasaki 900 Eliminator - sold that and don't want another. Basically, when I'm done with a vehicle, I'm done! They just don't last forever, and I don't like trying to make them last forever.

I have only sold three guns EVER. When I just got married I sold a 1979 Series 70 1911, a S&W Model 10 and a Colt Trooper in .357 Mag.

Bills to pay and little income!

Now the kids are gone and I only "collect"

30+ and counting, Never Enough

A S&W model 58, 41 mag. These have turned into a cult classic among the S&W lovers and the price has gone up three fold since. I sold it to buy a Ruger SP101 which later got traded for a Glock 27. I almost forget about it until threads like this get started.
