Recently found a super nice Security Six,blue,2 3/4 barrel, square butt, serial series 150,marked 38 special, and has fixed sights. No other markings as to a government entity. Is this a rare or collectible piece? Thanks for any info. RR

the 150s were the first year production and had a different grip frame from the following years. Fixed sights on a 2 3/4 Security Six in 38 special is definitely rare. If the condition is good I would jump all over that thing!

Not sure on the value. A regular 151 or later in 357 with adjustable sight can go anywhere from $250 to $450 depending on condition and location.

Was'nt a fixed sight model called a speed 6?
Security six has adjustable sights. Service Six has fixed sights. Speed Six has a round butt and fixed sights.

There were a few variations early on where some mixing of the sights between the Security Six and Service Six models took place. But not very many, so they might have some rarity value. I don't know.

I don't think any Speed Sixes had adjustable sights.

If only they had reduced the font.

Do any of these Rugers not have all that lawyer babble on the barrel?

They must have started the billboard after 77. My 77 has none, but my two eighties models have the warning.:(

Now, now. It's not polite to show your teeth without pics.

Congratulation! You are the owner of a fine weapon. kcub is right....we need pics so we can share in your exciting purchase.;)

By the way.... Welcome to the forum!

I don,t do pics but my grandkids do.Will try to get a shot or two.No camera,no cell phone,no whatever them pod/pads are.Old school I guess. RR

There is no "Babble" on the barrel of the 150 series revolvers(Security/Service/Speed-six).:)

In the beginning there was no Service-Six-just the Security-Six with the fixed sights or the adjustable sights. After a short time Ruger changed the name of the fixed sight Security-Six to Service-Six. From this point on the Security-Six was only cataloged with the adjustable sights. So, the early(150 series)Security-Sixes with the fixed sights are very scarce revolvers.:)

I hear ya! .LOL. ( that means laugh out loud) :)

Those Six Series Rugers are gems, and only going up in value.

Yours is kinda rare, and hard to find grips for, still ... a gem.

A couple pics of two of my favorites.
357 on the left, 38 on the right. Wouldn't guess it looking at the barrels.

Stick a Tyler T-Grip on it, load it up with Buffalo Bore 158gr LSWCHP +P ammo, and find a good holster and you'll have one of the best, yet under-appreciated CCW guns out there. While they generally don't bring as high a price as .357 Magnum versions, the Security Six in .38 Special is capable of digesting any factory ammunition you care to stick into it and can come very close to .357 Magnum performance. A Security Six like yours is one of the few .38 Special revolvers that I would feel comfortable using +P+ ammo like Federal's 147gr Hydra-Shok or Winchester's 110gr JHP "Treasury Load" in.

Smiths and Security Six's. My favorites.

Yes I pack Glocks... but Glocks have the personality of a TV remote. Revolvers, on the other hand, have the PERSONALITY of a fine watch!

And yes, Buffalo Bore 158gr LSWCHP +P ammo, will do GREAT. Excellent load for a Speed Six, S&W M&P, or Combat Magnum.

Really nice pix, skidder and Deaf Smith...wood grips are great for the aesthetics of stainless revolvers, need to get some for mine...

I find the babble on the barrel less offensive than the hole in the side of a S&W.

I agree but in either case I hope the lawyers have it like they want it because they are going to have to buy mine.
