Seasonal Guns

The bears aren't generally out in winter. I sometimes adjust downward in caliber choice during those times. Fall and spring are times of higher awareness and discretion in choices of hardware, and summer is moderate level, tho a guy was very thoroughly trounced in July by a grizzly.

I wished i lived in Griz country so i had an excuse to carry a Desert Eagle in 44mag or 50AE,or have a special 12 gauge pistol with slugs made just for me.
In Ohio our only danger is Deer and any Ford or Chevy is good for defense against those.
When i had my motorcycle i hated lat fall riding right at dusk,i missed one by about 6" and i was still shaking 1 hour later.

I carry differently in summer than winter. In summer, it's more about concealment with light clothing. My casual attire is shorts, usually with an elastic waistband. A lightweight pocket pistol is my norm, either a Ruger LCP or SW J-frame Airweight. Sometimes I'll go with my SW 3913 (single stack 9mm) in a tuckable holster when wearing regular pants.

In winter, it's more about penetrating heavy layers of clothing. My favorite is a 1911 carried IWB. I'll also carry a second pistol sometimes, usually a J-frame, in a jacket pocket or pants pocket.

I don't change my choice too much / but if you're looking for a reason to buy a new gun ....by all means...do it.

I've used that excuse / and never carried the gun ........ But my favorite excuse is .... it was too good a deal to pass up / and I'll pass it on to the grandkids or one of the boys in a few years ......so it followed me home...
