Sears, J.C. Higgins, with Belgium action questions

I was darned sure that mine is Walnut, and other than the new scope and stock refinish I did, it's 100% original.

That's one of the nice things about these Sears guns, no worries about "altering" a piece of history.

I learned something from the link posted earlier, apparently mine is from 51. I though it was 53.

Would like to do a new recoil pad and checkering to finish it off. My only complaint?? It should have a set of wheels, cuz it's darned heavy.

A buddy has one in '06 with a 22" barrel and Mannlicher stock. I was with him when he bought it and the only reason he has it is because I didn't see it first.

Love them Mannlicher's

A full stock would be complete perfection. I love em. Unfortunately it would also add a few ounces, to a rifle that is darned heavy by modern standards.

A while back I bought a Talo special 10/22, did not even want another .22 to add to the herd. It has a lovely Mannlicher walnut stock.

My wife immediately claimed it, good fit, a very petite rifle, for a very petite lady.

Now she wants it scoped! Been looking for a very compact scope to complete the package for her.

I would rather leave it with the nice factory irons it came with. It's just perfect the way it is, don't really want to scope it.

I'll get her out to shoot it, perhaps I can convince her that a scope on this little rifle will fit like socks on a rooster.
