Searching for a new carry

As always, a good holster on a stiff belt can go a long, long way. Kydex all day, every day. It won't absorb sweat, it is thinner than just about every other material, stiff enough to provide safe reholstering and a close ride. Bladetech Phantoms are ~$30, and are probably the best deal in the bidness.

Just my opinion obviously but holsters were meant to be made out of leather not plastic.

Not sure I agree on "meant to be." Leather holsters are nice, don't get me wrong, but there's nothing wrong with well made kydex.

Just my opinion that's all, kydex holsters are much like Glocks, sure they work they just lack any class or soul. I carried Cold Steel knives for years, they work very well for what they cost. Most knife guys laugh at them though. That's fine, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Well, for DA/SA and approximately snubbie size I'd echo the suggestions to check out the RAMI and the HKP30SK.

Personally I prefer the Glock 26 as my "smallest gun I like to shoot" carry gun. Wonderful little gun.

I used to feel just this way. Then I realized that my leather holsters are a) less comfortable in real hot weather b) have a chance to increase rust issues and c) generally thicker than Kydex counterparts.

So now instead of a 1911 in leather, I carry a Glock in Kydex.

Of course, that's all just my opinion, YMMV.

I go with the Bersa UC pro also and a good leather UBGholster to go with it.
He started making holsters for Bersa when no one else wanted to. .

I'm also a DA/SA guy. Don't give in to the Glock side!

There are some great recommendations here so far. I think an important question is "how compact do you need". That generally boils down to how you carry. A lot of the compact DA/SA models are still double-stacked so they are thicker. Versus a revolver, it might not be a big deal. Again, how you carry makes all the difference in what you can comfortably carry.

As per those recommendations, definitely check out the PX4. It's a great gun, especially once you install the low-profile/decocker-only upgrade. The rotating barrel really does affect recoil in a positive way. I also like the Walther P99. It feels just a tad more compact than some of these others and the controls are novel. Effectively being a DA/SA striker gun, it has an exceptionally nice trigger right out of the box. You can't thumb-cock it but as a trade, you get what I consider to be the best decocker placement on any CCW.
