Scored some Pre '64 model 70's!!

I have the same Std Model .243, my dad bought it back in 58 or 59. He sold it to his half brother, who in turn sold it to his brother. Fast forward a few years ago that man at the age of 88 gave me the rifle because my dad (deceased) was the original owner of it. It came with four boxes of my dads original reloads from 1959, two of the Norma boxes still had his reload recipe written on the boxes. Signed and dated. What a great deal you fell into on those two rifles, getting rid of "granpa's" guns like that is becoming the norm these days. No one wants that stuff around, because the current population has been conditioned to see guns as dangerous or offensive to "modern sensibilities".

That's a great story shuvelrider! Lots of history with your rifle and awesome that it came back around to ya. Our family understands the importance of firearms that have been passed down as well, a lot of memories come with them. I agree with you about our current social collapse, it's painful to watch but I don't think there is any way of stopping it now. No one wants to take responsibility for their actions and guns are a easy scapegoat to shift attention away from the underlying problem. Sad.
