Scored a S&W Model 19

I got one yesterday, 2-1/2", I'll see if it works tomorrow, it's been reblued but everything looks good and tight, very heavy D/A pull, ordered a Wolff spring to go in it.

Hey guys

I just paid off the model 19-5 at my LGS starting the 10 day waiting period. They wouldn't let me take any pics though. Its in excellent condition looks to have never been fired no turn line on the cylinder. I promise pics soon as I pic it up

I picked up a real nice 2.5" 19-3 about a year ago for $450. It was in one of those little Twilight Zone shops and it was if it was calling my name as we drove by. :)

I also picked up a real nice 4" 19-5 for $400 a couple of months before that. Both are great shooters and lately, have been getting most of revolvers range time.

I don't like those soft rubber Hogue grips.
I dont like the looks of them either, but I have them on most of my K, L, and N frames. They are ugly (not as ugly as that new Ergo grip :)), but they do fill my hand perfectly, lock the gun in my hand and make shooting almost Zen like.

I much prefer the issue magna type grips for "looks", and with a T grip, they are almost as nice as the Houges to shoot with, and nothing beats them for carry. Thats what my J frames wear, and just for that reason.

I keep meaning to check, but Houge used to have the rubber style grips in nylon as well. Those work much better if youre carrying.

Awesome!

I haven't been so pleased with Smiths new model 66 they just released. It's very ugly, just doesn't look right. There was noticeable cylinder wobble on both specimens I examined in two different gun shops. Fit and finish weren't the best.

It's good to hear people finding good condition model 19s and model 66s, the K-frame magnums were just so great in so many different ways. Smith and Wesson might still make the model 66, but it pales in comparison to the old production guns as do all revolvers they now make.

Sometimes, older is better!

Hey guys this pic is very close to the one I have on waiting period

Much better Gary. Congratulations.

I found this one at the LGS a few weeks ago. I was going to ignore it until I noticed that it was a four screw, 19 (no dash).

It's finish challenged, but has cleaned up a bit with some Flitz and elbow grease. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet though.

I picked up this 19-4 last week. I needed A project. Gun shoots great. Typical S&W 19. We will see how it cleans up.

Good find. These days there are options for refinishing that are cheaper then re-bluing.

I found this one about a year ago that had been dry fired only. Still is because every time I am set up to go to the range, something happens.

So far, I haven't fired this model 19, a Service Six .357 and my 9mm PPS.

I have to make an effort to make it to the range tomorrow.:)

Bad picture that doesn't do it justice.

Boy badlander, I'm not too sure if that will buff right out. ;)

Reminds me of the 15-2 I picked up a couple of months ago.

Fortunately, I was able to make up for it with this 19-2 I found a couple of weeks later.

No it's not going to buff up. Was painted black. Not as rough as it looks. Trying cerakote on it. It will just be A truck-Fishin gun.

I found "The Grips" for me!

I have been looking for decades for the right grip for my hand wrapped around a "K" Frame. The closest I came was the S&W magnum Combat/Target grips. yet they weren't correct for D/A shooting for me.
On a hunch, I bought a set of Jerry Miceluk hardwood grips from the "Blue Press"catalog for only $79!
They fit "K" and "L" framed S&W's.
WOW!
They're it!
These grips put your hand (mine meduim-large) right in position for perfect D/A triggerwork. Honestly, they feel out of sorts while thumb cocking for S/A shooting. Your hand and trigger finger set just right with these fantastic grips!
Enthused?
You bet!
I even had a rangemaster friend evaluate these grips and the first thing out of his mouth was, "Hey, these put your finger right on the trigger!"
I am not an employee or budddy of the maker but I am advising you guys to try a set if you are seriously trying to learn D/A shooting!
