Hey all

I lucked into a 2.5 inch barreled model 19 in over 90 percent condition for $450. at my LGS. It's a consignment sale and it looks amazing. Under the crane it says 19-5 which I believe means no counter bore on the cylinder also no barrel pin. It looks amazing though. I'll try and get some pics

I have a 19-5 in a 4" barrel and love it. I'd love one in 2.5". Having a P&R gun would be nice for nostalgia but it works fine as it is. You should be very happy with that price. I know I would be!

Model 19 just be the best thing ever to come out of S&W, especially those that were pinned and recessed. I have a 6" -3, my favorite of all time. Wish I had a 4' and the 2-1/2" even w/o pin and recess.

Nicely done. I have a 4" Model 19 and a 3" Model 65. Paid under $400 for the 19 because the finish is beat up, and paid about $425 for the 65 because it's a 3". Sounds like you got a good deal.

Congrats on finding a great revolver. I have my dads he carried on duty when he started his 31 year career as an officer in our town

I had all three in nickel at one time but decided to sell off all but the 6", it was my first revolver and could not sell this one.:o

At $450 that would be a heck of a price around here, nice find.

Around here too.

A Model 19 was my first handgun. I traded it away when I got bit by the IPSC and 1911 bug. I always said I'd get another one. Never did in spite of the many Smith & Wessons I've owned over the years.

Until yesterday.

This one is pretty much a carbon copy of that one I traded off all those years ago. It's sort of "finish challenged" but mechanically it's good.

The OP's cost less. :D

<shrug>. Character marks. As long as it's not rust or pitting, it looks fine.

(I don't like those soft rubber Hogue grips. YMMV, IMHO.)

Okay, Mr Bass...

I believe that you had a nickel 4" Model 19 a few years back? And in a fit (of what I considered) insanity you traded it off?

I only remember because it was an exact specimen of a "bucket list" gun that I was searching for! (whine, whine, snivel....)

And the other reason I remember so vividly was you also have/had the other bucket list gun I am still searching for - a Model 39.

The Model 19s always come back... (glad to see you have come to your senses!).

And you can't get just one...

To the O/P - I hope you enjoy your 19 as much as the rest of us do.

Just won an auction for a 19-5 snub, and will post pics when it comes in.

Paid more than the OP, but still got a really good deal!

Gary, $450.00 for a nice M -19 2 1/2" is a great price. You are correct the dash 5 and later versions did not have the pinned barrel and the recessed charging holes. Don't worry about your revolver not having these features you still have an excellent revolver.

Do though remember, any of the K frames can be a hand full with .357 Magnum ammo.
