i went with the vortex because, when i compared them side to side the vortex gathered way more light, and the glass seemed clearer. at about 5-600 less than the vx3, i was able to buy the sunshade, anti cant level, leupold rings and bases, pachmayre f990 recoil pad, and still came in 300 less than i would have with the leupold. as soon as i get the scope in my hands im gonna go have bass pro mount it.

ive got a diamondback on my .17 and love it. im sure i will be more than pleased with it. ill post some pics of the completed gun when i get home

I think the vortex diamondback is the sweet spot for Vortex, any more and you probably would want to look into other brands unless you go all out and get a Viper PST, but that's a whole different category of scopes (tactical).

Leupold is good, uses Nikon glass (am I correct on that?).

I would have said look at sightron a couple years back, get one of the S2 Big Sky's but they look like they are pushing hard with their S3 lineup which is all 30mm tube and heavy pieces of glass.

Theres still quite a few Big Sky's floating around on the market, I would say they are equal to if not better in clarity than a leupold, and they have a lot of adjustment, good eye relief, etc.

What rifle are you planning to put that on? I have 2 of the 6.5-20x50 (1 x MilDot and 1 x BDC) and there is a couple of things I don't like about them but the main one is it has only around 3" of eye-relief (it doesnt worry me to much as I have them on Varmint rifles ie:223 but it does worry my young kids when they shoot them) so if you have purchased yours for a gun with alot of recoil you may want to think again. For the money they are good scopes built like a tank.
