I have a Remington 700p in .308, I put a 20moa scope rail and and a high quality set of rings on it, now I need glass. I'm trying to stay around 600 dollars for my scope, any suggestions? I have a leupold mark4 on my m99 but don't really want to drop that kinda cash on my .308. All advice is greatly appreciated guys.

If you were willing to go a bit higher on the budget, I would recommend a Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50. And yes, I own one and intend on getting another. Great glass for the money.

Never used the Vortex Viper but if carries the same quality vs. price that the PST does, then it would most likely be worth it too.

Another vote for Nikon Monarch's-I too have a 3x12 and a 5x20, both with BDC reticles as well as the M-223 with BDC on my AR....couple the fact that they are great scopes along with the Spot On program makes them an excellent choice

Big Leuopold fan too and defintiely like the fact that they are a high quality US made product (especially like my new "Hog Scope"---awesome!)

I just bought a Rem 700 SPS Varmint .308......I put a Nikon Prostaff BDC 3x12x40 on it.....$209.00 at Bass Pro.....I love it,great scope and VERY clear, holds a great zero and it adjusts easily.

Minox 3-15X42, I haven't tried one of their scopes yet but the 10X42 BL binoculars I have are outstanding they just aren't 30mm. For under $600 I think it will give the Viper a run for the money. Or come up with some extra money and buy something like this scope. Vortex is great optics as well and will be money well spent. There are options out there for you in your price range.

Buddy of mine bought one of the Minox scopes for his 700, it wouldn't hold zero, took it back and they gave him another one, got it zero'd and the next time out it had fogged up. Took it back and ended up buying a Ziess FFP.

I've been more than impressed with the Weaver Super Slam 2X10X50 EBX I put on my project rifle. Natchez has them on sale for $329.00 with a list in most places over $700-800.00. Bushnell Elite 4200's were nice but they changed the model to just Elites now. Ziess Conquest is top notch. And of course Leupold. Not a fan of Nikon, just too many issues with failures at the wrong time.

Yes, I own a vortex viper in 6.5-20x44 30mm tube and a viper in 2-7x32. Excellent scopes for the money! Plan on buying more to replace some scopes I currently have and for future rifle purchases.

Good to know, I still might give them a shot as I love my binoculars. I have a Weaver Tactical GS scope and I like it a lot, but I don't think they come in 30mm tubes. My Weaver is the Midway USA scope they sell for $299.

I have a SS scope. I liked it, but the turrents have a real mushy feel and no real clicks, almost two hash marks between clicks. When I tried to contact their customer service I got some cryptic email back and when I tried to clarify what they were asking for I got no email back.

I've read great things about vortex and I'd like to try them next...just have too many things on my plate right now.

I have the Rem 700 PSS which is essentially the same as the "P". I have a Super Sniper 10x on it and am very happy with the scope for the price; if I was going to do it all over again I would definitely consider the Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 instead.

Here is a bad cellphone pic of my Savage 10FCP with Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 (30mm tube) mounted and the 10-shot group @ 100-yards I shot about a week ago.

Have you considered swapping the MK4 to the MDL 700 and finding a more reasonably priced scope for the MDL 99? You may not need the elevated bases with that scope.

The MDl 99, you didn't say how it was chambered, is to be lusted after, but while it's a great hunting rifle, may not have the long range potential of the Rem.The 30mm tube just seems to me a little out of proportion on a MDL 99. When I visualize a classic like the MDL 99 I see it with something more like a K-6 Weaver or such. Another 2 cents.
