Scope Rings for New Rifle

I am purchasing a brand new CZ 557 in .30-06 and planning to mount a Vortex Diamondback HP 4-16x42 scope on it. I'm needing advice on what rings I should buy for this set up with my budget being less than $100 for these rings (preferably $50 range is that is possible). This rifle will be used for hunting so I am looking for rings that will hold up to the abuse along with holding the scope securely. Thanks in advance

I put around 4,000 rounds through my '06 over a bunch of years. Never had a moment's trouble with Weaver rings and bases.

I agree 35 dollar rings and base will be very resoanable!!! I have my Bushnell elite 6500 4.5-30X50 mounted on My Remington 700 300 win mag with the 20 MOA rail and leupold rings they came to 188$ I done feel there is a need for that price it is very extravagant but I was not there at the time they where installed weaver will do just fine !!!! There is a ring I'm curious about and that is the Burris Zee ring !!!! They seem to be sturdy and there is no lapping of rings required they will self adjust a couple .001 if you don't have the tooling !!!!! You probably already know but it us a good idea to bed the mounts to the rifle I used epoxy but of course only apply epoxy to the rail not the gun

The dovetails on the reciever are 19 mm according to the cz site.

That means that you can use the cz specific rings that fit this dovetail size, or go a diffeent route.

On my 527 which had 16 mm dovetails, I got a weaver to cz base adapter, and that opened up a lot of ring choices and placements for me.

(I did have a set of high 1" cz rings though) the cheapest route would be cz rings, either from cz, or smeone that makes that pattern.

Thanks all for the responses, sorry for the late response this week has been crazy. This is the first time for me to put a serious amount of money into a rifle and scope and want to put quality products together for a setup that will last me many years.

Art what rings would you suggest from Weaver?

jason.jardine72 I used a 30mm ring upside down and fiberglass ed the bubble to the bottom works good and saved 60 Dollars!!!!!
Jason that is a setup you have! I was not looking to add a base adapter to the rifle only because it comes from the factory with 19mm dovetails.

Surveyor thanks for the advice, the rings offered by CZ is what I was leaning towards but couldn't find any reviews. Are there any benefits of adding a base adapter other that being able to add different types of rings?

I prefer the rings with a top & bottom; four screws. I've used the older rings with two screws and a hook, but getting the cross hairs exactly vertical/horizontal is much more of an art than a science.

Thanks !!!

Art,
So glad you qualified this one and I totally agree. Whenever I get some the older style that you mentioned, I give them away. Don't get me wrong, Weaver does make good rings and glad they have evolved. ..... :)

Be Safe !!!

Talley base/ring combination if they make them for your rifle. I have 2 sets of them and love them. They are made of aircraft aluminum which makes them lighter than steel and are very easy to get the cross hairs vertically centered.

I almost had a cow today with base and rings. Bought new Nightforce and figured they would just use taller Leupold rings on my dovetails. Not good enough. Nightforce steel base $116.00. Nightforce rings $169.00. If it hadn't been a high end scope I could have bought 1/2 a good rifle for price of base and rings.

Hi Wendy I am just curious when you say you "bought new Nightforce" you mean you bought a new Nightforce Scope? If so what model did you get?

Stay with a ring specifically made for the CZ action. I have Warne on my 550. Burris and Talley also make excellent CZ rings. I have no idea why one would want to use adapters on the CZ action. More attachment points equal more possibilities for failure. Leupold also has a good CZ ring and it is also one of the cheaper rings available for the action. In my humble opinion, the Millett rings for CZ are pure junk. Not worth taking out of the package.
