Scope mounting issue on a Sako

I have an old Sako AIII 25-06. I am trying to mount a 2.5 x 10 x 56 scope with a 30 MM tube. The rifle has two dove tails integrated in the gun. The rear one ( toward the stock) is narrower than the other one and tapered.

will these work? Is one narrower than the other?

I also found this http://swfa.com/Talley-2-Piece-Base-P4902.aspx

will these slide over the Sako dove tails and lock in place? Do they have a set screw in them to secure them?

any help or advice will be appreciated.

Work technically as far as fit the dovetails.

Clear the front with the scope you are using vs the height takes research and questions to the suppliers.

Not familiar with the scope and how big the bell is on the end.

They are right for the AIII Dovetail setup (not sure if they still use it but they did for along time)

They look like high rings.

The bell is 2.5 inches wide. any recommendations on the ring height. The Leupolds appear to come in 3 heights. I hope they will fit the tapered dove tail on this AIII Sako.

Ps if you get a chance to acquire a Sako, the older ones are very fine shooters. I don't know about the newer ones.

what to do?

2.5 x 10 x 56
I bought some medim 30mm rings for my SAKO AV and my scope has a 50mm objective which hit and wouldn't work.
50mm Objectives
will almost always use HIGH rings in a given style. In certain instances, such as with extremely heavy barrels or some makes of firearm, SUPER HIGH rings may be necessary.

.42-45mm Objectives
will almost always use MEDIUM rings in a given style. In certain instances, 45mm scopes may require HIGH rings.
This is directly from leupolds website under recommended objective sizes.

I have 8 Sako's and the best set up for mounting a scope on them is their Opitilock rings and bases which fit in the dovetails and then just pick the ring height you need for the scope. You have a very fine rifle so use the rings and bases that are ment for it and not some after market cheaper set up.
