Scientists respond to Gore's warning of climate catastrophe

I take it you've never taken a cross-country airplane flight, or flown anywhere in Western Asia?
The former yes, the latter no.

It seems to me that often when rich westerners moan about how terrible a population of 20 billion would be, they're really talking about how terrible it would be to have 20 billion brown people.
lol I'm glad someone sees it

Ah, the race card and those damn rich westerners...........

I thought this thread was about, Al Gore and Global warming.

Al gore had some help with the same producer who worked on the movie "Pulp Fiction", that might tell us something:rolleyes:

Doubt it. Pulp Fiction was a great movie but it's unlikely Bender's influence improved upon this flick (no way I'm calling this a documentary, barely comes close).

In either case this project goes to show that when the populace is uneducated and ignorant of science they can easily be indoctrinated with myths and supposition.

I'm not sure of the point of this statement...but I am pretty sure that 20 billion people on earth would be a bad scenario regardless of their color...give me a break.

It's a little premature to call the populace ingnorant and uneducated when noboby knows what the the real cause is yet.
So far we have a hollywood fiction writer backing a very far leftwing politician, and suddenly we're all doomed.

We seem to have an equal number of scientists and so-called experts going opposite directions on global warming.

Al's movie only seems to be a big hit with the Liberals, ALF, ELF, and PETA crowd.

It's not nearly as compelling a story as Disclosure or Airframe, but it's very clever the way he makes his points and then backs it up with a staggering compilation of references to scientific data and studies, both published scientific work and web sites.

Knowing the real cause has no bearing on the overall ability of the populace to understand science and its' principles. It's no different than when anti-gun or anti-drug groups use psychologists and statisticians to "find" figures and facts to support their causes. People start hearing all these fancy words from folks with letters in front of their names and they simply accept it. Gore is betting that everyone will just think "Hey, they're scientists so they must be right." without trying to comprehend the real meaning behind the situation and how it's being studied.

So far we have a hollywood fiction writer
Lawrence Bender is a producer and director with barely a handful of writing credits. That being said what difference does it make that he makes his living working in fiction? Y'all seem to have quite the hard on for the entertainment industry.

There are more than just two ways of looking at the issue. They're not all at opposite ends of the spectrum. The only way to figure out the truth is to focus on the science of the issue. People are paying more attention to the politics and economics of it and that is going to at best waste money and at worst put our entire existence in jeopardy.

Much like Uncle Sam did with terrorism he's feeding on the fear and ignorance of the people.

nothing really, just pointing out how both conservatives and liberals have utterly stupid ideas about our presence on this planet
