SCCY vs HiPoint

I carried my P-11 (which I view as a SCCY with a different name) for a while, and then tried it in an IDPA match.

Because I wasn't shooting it regularly, my first course of fire in the IDPA match was terrible... it took me three shots to really hit the target at all. After the first three shots I did alright with the gun, but in a real self-defense situation that could be the end of the confrontation.

I traded it away -- because I figured I would continue to shoot other guns, and if I carried the P-11 (or a SCCY) for self-defense, I might have that same sort of experience when experiencing the pressures of a real-life self-defense situation.

I would NOT suggest a SCCY for a new shooter. The Hi-Point would be OK for home defense, but as noted above, a used better quality gun makes a lot more sense.
