SCCY CPX-2 vs Taurus PT111 G2 Pro

I've decided against the Taurus PT-111, every gun shop I talk to all they have to say is you'll be using that warranty a lot.

That's pretty disconcerting.

I've decided that the SCCY is still on my list, but instead of putting it against the PT 111, I'm thinking about the Ruger LC9s Pro. Between the CPX-2 and the LC9s Pro, what do you folks think? I'm leaning towards the LC9s because there are 9 round mags available that give a full grip to shoot with and 9 rds is close to the 10 rd mags of the SCCY. Better trigger too.

I've been carrying my LC9s since they first came out. About 3000 rounds through it and so far 100% reliable with everything I've fed it. I carry with the pinky extension and two spare 10 round mags. Even though I've never had the best of luck with pro mags these two have been 100%. Accuracy has been excellent.

You might as well throw the S&W M&P9 Shield into the mix, with the factory $75 mail in rebate you can find them online for around $240-ish.

Try before you buy if you can. Before my mom bought a single stack 9, her and I rented a Shield, LC9 and a Glock 43. It was a pretty close tie for both of us between the Shield and the G43. Both felt great in the hand and shot really well. In the end, we both liked the Shield a bit better than the G43, and the price was lower so we both went that route.

Not to bash the LC9, it may well feel great to shoot to many people. But to us, man, yeah it is thinner and lighter but in our hands it significantly increased perceived recoil. The Shield and Glock are surprisingly comfortable to shoot, but the LC9 - man, it did NOT feel good!

YMMV though, again, the LC9 may be an excellent choice.

Between the PT111G2 and the SCCY, the customer service experience from what I can tell (and my own experience with Taurus) couldn't be more different: SCCY being excellent and Taurus being, Taurus :p .

That said, I've read/heard about VERY few issues with the G2, they typically work. SCCY? All and all good, but I've known a few people that needed to use that great customer service. So you are less likely to need to use Taurus customer service I think, but if you do, well, you may as well stick a fork in your eye - it will be less painful :p .

Also, not much bigger than the G2 but also affordable is the S&W SD9VE - about Glock 19 sized. The frame height is a hair taller on the SD9VE compared to the G2 - maybe a 1/3"? But then again, the SD9 does carry 3 or 4 extra rounds, if that is a consideration. The barrel is maybe an inch, inch and a half longer too. Not sure on width, they are both double stacks. I love my SD9VE, my only complaint so far being the trigger is a little spongy, but then all striker triggers seem to be that way. And some Talon grips took care of the somewhat slippery grip texture (the G2 has it beat there IMHO). Never a malfunction, and it cost me $304 out the door (shipping + FFL fee).

Right now there is a $25 rebate on them, so you can probably locate one for under $300.
