saw a guy carrying a 1911 yesterday

TX had concealed carry later than some states. Oregon - much more liberal had permits before TX. I had to give up mine when I moved here and then had to wait for the new law.

TX has strong forces that were against concealed carry. The GOA absolutists were against the law saying the 2nd Amend. was all that was needed and tried to sink the law. Business interests (economic conservatives) were clearly against carry and still are for the most part. The parking bill had to overcome terrible business opposition. Campus carry was killed despite legislative support by underhanded trickery by supposed supporters of gun rights and anti folk.

TX is not just a political cliche.

Come to my house and you are likely to see the same thing except I don't smoke. I don't see what all the fuss is about or why you took the picture. Haven't you seen a gun in a holster before? Not trying to be a smart @ss, just wondering why this is a topic of conversation.

That's not a policeman! It's 92 degrees and he has a long sleeve shirt on. The gun is a Kimber S/S 5" in an Alessi holster. He has $68.00 in right rear wallet and .47 cents in change in his right front jeans pocket. He just got a hair cut 12 days ago. He's 51 years old, married with four children, 2 grown boys and 2 grown girls. One of his daughters still lives at home. Their both conversing about which model of chain saw is appropriate for his new retreat he just purchased. If the picture had a little more detail, I could tell you what time his Timex said on his right wrist. :D

Texas is a very interesting state. In some ways western and in some southern. It has really big cities and huge expanses or rural ranch/scrubland.

Open carry is more of a western thing, no?

He was out there in front of God and everybody.

Not like I was photographing a woman on the beach.

Now a woman on the beach carrying a 1911, THAT would be photo worthy!

Snapped photo from my car, using phone and "strategery".
