Savage FCP-K review

I took it out again the other day . With adding the weight by filling in the stock . I can barely feel the recoil . Yes it's there but really just a medium push rather then a kick per-say . I like it alot and was shooting sub 1/2 moa out to 300 yards again . I did have what I now think is a scope problem . I was a complete MOA off on my adjustments from one day to the next .The rifle was still zeroed at 100yds and POI was dead on . When I adjusted my scope to what should be my 300yd zero It was 1 MOA off in elevation . I have not had a chance to do a turret tracking test . I have no way of locking the rifle down to make sure it does not move so I can test the turrets . The scope is a low end Vortex so I'm not all that surprised . Sometimes you really get what you pay for . this just makes me want to get the better scope sooner . I really wanted the Vortex Viper PST but the funds are just not there for that but I might settle for the SWFA SS 10x42 for now http://swfa.com/SWFA-SS-10x42-Tactical-Riflescope-P500.aspx

If I'm going to work on long range shooting I will need a scope that the turrets track correctly .

I wouldn't call it settling for the SWFA scope...but I might be biased as I have one :D

So far, at least with mine, no tracking issues. I just ran it out successfully to 600 yards today on steel. Everything was repeatable once dialed in at the various distances.

I agree, I have a SWFA rear focus MOA model on my Savage 10 fp-sr and think its a hell of a scope, especially for what you pay.

Great shooting Metal. Say when you get the chance try this one. My Savage 308 loves it
175 smk
GM210M primers
43.2 gn's RL-15
Mess with the COL a little bit. At 300 yards mine will take a golf ball 9 out of 10 times.

Thanks 4runnerman I will but not sure when I'll have that powder . I back ordered a bunch a stuff early Feb and my bullets just shipped today . I got 175 MKs , 178 A-MAX and 165 SST coming but still no powder . Thats been on back order for just about as long IMR 4064 and some stuff for my AR . My buddy and I are going to do big powder , primer order and split the cost . looking to get Varget and some pistol powder . If I see the RL-15 instock I'll pick some up .

Good Luck Metal. I have 15 lbs of Varget and 7 lbs of 4064,but no RL15, and no BR2 or BR4 primers. Lots of 22LR shooting going on here:D

If ya do go varget my fcp-k loved this load

44.5gr varget
175gr smk (seconds at that)
Cci large rifle
