savage 110 w scope trade

Yes--they clearly have the advantage of rifle-style aim ability and remaining cocked at the ready. I have and use both--not taking sides. That Middleton I mentioned comes in around 4.5 lbs +/-
I don't begrudge anyone who chooses to hunt with one. I just hope (admittedly, selfishly) they don't allow crossbow concurrently with archery season.

I would also argue that most people's effective range should be greater with a rested crossbow than a compound bow. I can shoot targets accurately out to 100-yards with a compound bow but I would never attempt that kind of range on game.

As easy as technology has made a compound bow to shoot there's still a lot more human input when shooting a vertical bow vs. a crossbow.

Personally I think even with the modern super-bows the amount of skill it takes to steady the bow in the sweet spot of your palm while remaining fully drawn for extended periods while adjusting for targets shot from a conceal is still more than most other weapons require.

20 years old is like new for a rifle. I have a couple rifles that are around 70 years old and one that's over a 100... Well cared for, a hunting rifle lasts a long time.

I'd sure as hell trade a bow for that Savage, cause I'm too crippled to pull one back, those years have passed me by, but I can still squeeze a trigger!!
