Sat down next to a "natural" the other day

The weekend I rolled my Cherokee over my arm a few times was Juniors first time with a bow ANY BOW... The owner of the bow told him about the peep hole and pins... Junior let an arrow fly and was BULLSEYE! Owner watched him a few shots and asked why he lied about never shooting a bow before...

Junior was shooting like a well seasoned shooter but it really was his first time... He ain't shot one since...

I agree with women being "Naturals" most never grew up playing Cowboys and Indians, (no Macho aspect) and they have better patience then most guys.

My wife did grow up around rifles and shotguns, and is a better shot when hunting birds than I will ever be. My sister on the other hand.............. I would feel safer standing in front of where she's shooting, rather than behind her.:D

Am I missing something here? 15 yards with a red dot sight. With a 22.

Good shooting but a natural? Just sounds like someone who did not flinch and had a decent grip.

Gotta agree here. Now if he'd signed his name with bullets, that would have been something... OK, just his initials ;)

As an NRA instructor I can assure you that there are some people out there who can shoot a gun for the first time and immediately grasp exactly how to hit a target. Believe it or not almost all of them of them are women. They don't try to "muscle" the gun or try to look macho. They do exactly what they are instructed to do and they hit right away. And most of exclaim "this is easy!" I love it. :D With men you have to constantly correct all of their bad habits from watching TV and movies.

I've had the same experience with new female shooters.

We call my daughter Annie Oakley because she took straight to it. As mentioned earlier being a female she did exactly what she was told and amazed me first time out. I still have 2 targets from her first day to show off.

Wouldn't using a red dot take away all the difficulties in using a handgun?
Well most anyway.

The first time I did archery I did pretty dang well, I thought it was easy, once you get the POA right just keep doing what you've done every single shot and its fine.

When my I first got my Tikka a mate and I sighted it in and did some groups with it, we'd never really done much target type shooting (well I certainly hadn't) and we were able to shoot some 0.5" groups.
It was easy, you've just got to be consistent.
I did a similar thing when I first tried small bore shooting.

Although when I tried shooting off hand with my Remington 597 it took me a while to hit a 4" steel target at 50yrds consistently, first time was done right awful

One of our grand-daughters, (at age 12) first time ever handling any firearm, took my wifes High Standard Trophy and shot the center out of a 1" bullseye at 7 yds. That was with iron sights.

The only instruction she had was the hour or so I took to explain how the pistol worked, and range safety...then I did a really dumb thing...I said I would give $100 if she could put 5 of 5 in the bull.
