Sample fired case came with Smith and Wesson N frame

Boys (and girls), those of you throwing those test-fired cases away are committing a federal felony. Under US Federal Statue 1233-42, section C those cases must be turned immediately over to your local firearms authority for storage and future comparisons else you face a penalty of not less than 3 years or $500.

(If that raised your blood pressure, think how easy it would be to pass this law....)

Yknow, it's bad enough I have the NRA bugging me every day over laws that are just in comittee, to have random forumites trying to generate panic about a law that isn't even being considered is over the top, as well as ENTIRELY off-topic.

So the million dollar question for the prosecution's firearm's witness will be: "Which chamber of the .44 special in question was the sample brass fired from?"

Try buying a gun made out of the US (like a Taurus) that does not come with a test fired cartridge. If you live in NY, you have to wait for your FFL to make an appointment to have the gun test fired at a Fed facility.

It adds time (and sometimes $$) to the transaction.

This has happened to me on my last two purchases.

Wow, that's rough.
My sympathies, buddy.

Sorry ChicagoTex, my sense of humor and sarcasm got out of hand. I'll try to stay aboveboard and serious so some won't miss the fact that I'm not being serious.

It's cool, we all make mistakes. Welcome to the forum.

I guess it was too much to hope for that they would have exempted revolvers from the futile gesture.

I wonder how many times fired cases are left lying about from a revolver used in a crime. Maybe, if a reload was required or if the criminal was a particularly cooperative sort but it seems more likley the entire weapon, or nothing at all, would be left behind.

Are you serious!
What’s next for NY, if you want to use a condom you have to ,,,,,,,,,
Thank GOD (for saying that I probably just broke some government law) I live in Indiana with a governor that is PRO gun.

The test firing is for balistic fingerprinting which can be defeated by running a small amount of abrasive cleaner down your barrel and removing the firing pin/striker and rotating it a small amount and reinserting it.

Ballastic finger printing is worthless technology designed to bilk money out of law enforcement agencies.
