safe queen or shooter?

In the old days they used to give you back the original parts, but I understand they are no longer doing that.

I wish this old story would go away. I have been buying, shooting, collecting and selling Rugers for years. I have sent many OMs back to Ruger and know others who have as well. In all my conversations with them and in my own experience, you will get your parts back. However, if you wish to be sure about getting them back, removing the parts before returning the gun will allow you to sleep at night.

And I agree that you should shoot the old girl.:)

Thanks for all the replies everybody!! I took her to the range sat., with my Beretta and gave her a workout. At 25 yards I was holding about a.six inch group. Not the best but not bad considering I just got my pistol permit about a month ago. I have every intention on keeping her 100% original and am well aware of carrying it with the firing pin resting on an empty chamber. Thanks again everybody. And for those of you that want pics, stay tuned and I will take a couple pics next trip:)

Hey, do it like the old gunfighters (supposedly) did and roll up a ten dollar bill and keep it in that unused chamber!

I have firearms left to me by both my grandfathers and my dad. The ones that are still safely shootable are shot regularly outta respect for them. It also takes me back in my mind to when they were still around. Last spring I used my dad's old Winchester model 1897 to take my Tom. I'm thinkin' in it's century of existence, it's the first turkey hunt it's ever been on. I hopin' dad was lookin' over my shoulder. He truly loved that gun.
