Safe in Garage?

Sees easier to just use the tools in the garage and break into it while there; especially when he has torches, etc.
Driving down the street dragging a safe WILL attract the wrong kind of attention.

I was walking the dog, a garage door opens so someone could back out.

The garage was brightly lit and there was a large gun safe conspicuous in the garage.
I wasn't even being snoopy, I was only seeing if me and my dog needed to let the car back up.
So imagine a criminal looking out for such things.

Now I would go to garage sales end goodwill store and even music stores.
Get some cheap amps and guitars and put them in the garage. A theif might load those up and forget everything else... Bait, works

I ,in the past, did much testing on products to see how effective they were on preventing rust since I lived in South Florida which I always called the rust capital of the world. I don't know it it is still sold, but a product called "Rig" which was a grease was the best and equal to "Boe Shield" developed by Boeing for rust and corrosion. Rig was usually sold in gun stores. I guarantee you any guns wiped down with Rig would NOT rust even if left outside in your back yard. Boe Shield was a spray and left a waxy film and was also excellent to protect battery terminals.

Happy ending

I read a story in a news paper from a small town where I used to live. A police officer on patrol at night saw a vehicle going down a road which was across a open field that had a shower of sparks following it. The officer went to investigate what he saw, it turned out to be a pick up truck dragging a gun safe the thieves had stolen the safe but it was too heavy for them to lift into the truck so they tied a chain around it and we're dragging down the road. The sparks attracted the officers curiosity and the thieves got caught

You can keep it dry inside

A light bulb in the safe or a heating element like any number of commercial made dehydrators will keep it dry inside. It's not hard to do at first you have to monitor it at first to see if your have enough heat to do the job then just let it run

Guns are one those things that should live where you do, like your children, and, like children, should be as much as possible under your personal supervision. Unless, of course, the children are unbearable, then you can get a cot and move to the garage with your guns.

I lived in south Florida for many years before leaving for AZ. We used a product at the airlines I worked for that consisted of Paralketone, used for corrosion protection in the bellies of aircraft.

Paralketone is a spray on substance that dries to a soft waxy consistency and is completely impervious to moisture. Unlike Cosmoline, it doesn't get gooey and sticky and is relatively easy to wipe off if you want to shoot the gun. I would spray a gun, place it inside a plastic bag, squeeze the air out and the guns would stay rust free for years at a time in some cases.

You can get it at your local Ace Hardware as LPS 3. It's not cheap, but it's highly effective.
