S&W vs Ruger vs Taurus

Not to bash any one of the gun makes esp Taurus who gets bashed often.

I don't think it's bashing if, 1) It's based on a persons actual experience with a gun they owned, combined with 2) the comments are given in response to a question asking about the products quality, a persons experience with a product, etc.

America has become a nation of thin-skinned people. Psychology seems to even permeate discussions about the quality of a product.

If someone has had a legitmate poor experience with a product, and shares that experience with someone who is thinking about buying that product...I say thank you to them.

Now, if someone has no actual experience with said product, and gives a negative review about said product = that could be considered illegitimate bashing.

Most of the Taurus talk I've seen on the forums seems to come from people with legitimate experience. I personally have owned 7 Taurus guns. I talk from experience, and I no longer buy Taurus because of the poor quality of the guns I've purchased.

I've had a couple of S&W and Ruger revolvers that I sold off because of fit and finish issues I wasn't thrilled about, but none malfunctioned.

There are all sorts of uses of all of them but in my case the S&W and Ruger are the only way to go. I avoid the Taurus...

I prefer the Ruger LCR above all for CCW revolvers. The trigger is magical.

Smith is a very close 2nd. the J-frame is a classic. It's tough to put Smith in second, they have some truly beautiful revolvers, but I have a soft spot for Ruger. My little LCP, my 10/22, my mom's LCR, my friend's SR9 and my brother's LCR all have flawless track records.

I would not own a Taurus based on family experience. I don't make bargains with my life.

personal carry brand

I switch back and forth with the Colt trooper and my SW686 stainless both 357 mags. I love my wheel guns over my autos...just used to carrying wheel guns back in the day before all the hype of automatics and larger ammo clips...just my feeling and opinion

If you want the best DA trigger: the LCR
If you want the most rugged and can live w/a mediocre trigger: the sp101
If you want the prettiest: maybe a S&W 3" model 60

Smith and Wesson first, then Ruger.I only have Ruger autos at the moment, but have had their revolvers in the past.
And then Taurus, which I have never owned,so I can't speak objectivly of their quality. As a matter of fact I have never even fired one.

I do like my Colt Detective Special with six rounds the best. But my nickel plated S&W Model 37 seems to find it's way into my pocket the most. lol

I think the steel J-frames are the best overall for carry considering everything. One thing not mentioned yet is the availability of different grips. Grips can make a huge difference in your ability to conceal easily or cshoot accurately. With a J-frame, there's a huge aftermarket of grips to choose from.

Ruger mostly because,SMITH folks think theyre all that. LOL:D
I ve just had real good service out of RUGER.
