S&W SD9VE or Taurus PT-111 G2

U can get cerakote finish on them for pretty cheap, thats what i would probably do im not a 2 tone fan either
Yes, but by the time I did that and more than likely upgraded the trigger, I would be into it for close to the price of a M&P.

I'll just stick with the M&P and Shield, but if I couldn't afford those the SD would be a good alternative.

I'd rather have a m&p u can get a used one for fairly cheap

I've owned both. I do have a G2 review posted and will put the S&W vid up shortly. Quick and dirty---both guns are fine for budget guns but both of my examples had malfunctions which is certainly concerning. That said, the $200-300ish guns of today are much better than similarly priced models from say 10 years ago so I suppose that's good.

If you don't plan on carrying it----I'd go S&W for sure.

For CC purposes id go with the Taurus. They do make a good gun with good designs. However their QC and cust. Svc departments seem to be lacking a bit. My PT145 was flawless for years. Wish i never sold it. However The Smith is a good gun as well

Why not just buy a Shield and be done with it? I've seen used ones hovering around the $320-350 mark and they are intended CCW pistols. I have heard great things about the SD9, but have experience with the M&P and recommend it highly.

I have the Taurus and love it.
Probably close to a perfect cc gun.
My brother has the Smith, but I haven't shot it. I've heard good things about it, but for cc, Taurus wins, hands down.
I only have about 600 or so rounds through mine, but it's been flawless.

If I had to only buy one, I would probably buy the S&W, but I don't like the SD9VE much at all, to be honest about it. The PT111 is a great little gun. Mine had about 900 rounds through it without a hitch and it will be my CCW gun when I finally get around to getting the permit. I have a holster that seems to work well and was cheap enough that I can just buy another one when it gets worn. Kind of like the Pt111

I love my PT 111 g2. I carry it daily and I take it to the range for practice on a regular basis. It has given me no reason to complain and it is a great example of decent capacity in a very concealable package.
