S&w Model 686 or the plus version?

QUOTE: I prefer a six shooter. Because I'm lazy and don't want to clean an extra hole .

Solution: Just load the seven shooter with six rounds. ;)

I will say that this is the very first time I have heard someone name a six shot revolver more versatile than a seven shot revolver, oh well...At any rate the 3" tubed 686-plus is a great handgun for the trail or under your jacket, it really seems to balance better then the 4" options, and its easier to pack, and an extra round is a great bonus, one that could prove itself quite valuable!

Dang, you guys sure are making want a three inch plus for carry. Was there ever one without the Hillary hole?

To the best of my limited knowledge, the 686 Plus predates both that feature and the MIM parts by just a few years. They are fairly rare and supposedly command a steeper price on the used market.

If you want a reasonably powerful 7-shooter without the lock hole, Ruger made a GP100 in .327 Federal Magnum. It's got a 4.2" barrel but who knows? With all the other new stuff they've been pumping out in that caliber, maybe we'll see a 3" GP100. :)

There you go!

I made my decision to get the 6" barrel and the 6 shooter.

Good choice. That long barrel will tame even the hottest rounds. I don't have a 6" 686, but I have an 8-3/8" and it really tames the hot rounds ;)

I like weight up front.
