S&W Model 10-7 Sexiness

I still have my 10-7 which I purchased new in the box for about $170.00 back in the early 80s. It's basically in like new condition still, with just a teensy bit of holster wear on the barrel.

It sat unused in my father's dresser for about 20 years (it was on loan) and when he passed away I got it back.

My only complaint is that the blueing on the barrel and cylinder doesn't quite match the blueing on the frame (though the barrel and cylinder do match each other). It came that way from the factory, and at the time it was just a working firearm rather than a collector's piece.

I think it may have only had about 50 rounds through it tops.

Nice model 10 you got there.

I guess I'm glad I got my 10-5 for $325 a couple of years ago then. It's a five inch barrel, which is relatively uncommon. I forgot that I had it until a week or two ago.

You might be a TFLer if you forget and then re find a gun or two:)

Nice find. When you consider what a new S&W revolver costs, if you find a vintage one in like-new condition, certainly it's worth $500 if that's the one you want.

Well I just got done cleaning her after putting 50 rnds of Fed Amercan Eagle down range.

Point of aim was right on and no issues as I had expected from a S&W. The double action trigger is very nice and the single action is very crisp and light as has been my experience with other S&Ws I've owned in the past.

I left the range and bought three HKS speedloaders and a box of Hornady 125grn XTPs and it now resides at my bedside drawer for defense.

I know XTPs aren't the best hollow point out there. I want to stay standard pressure, everything seems to be +P these days.

What is a good standard pressure .38 SPL defense round for the model 10? I'm thinking of shooting these XTPs next weekend and buying some Hornady Critical Defense non+P rounds. I would love to find some standard pressure lead semi-wad cutter hollow points.

Of all the revolvers my wife and I have, nothing shoots as nice as our 4" pencil barrel model 10's
Here are some of them
