S&W M60 vs. Ruger SP101

Keep in mind that no matter what you shoot through the SP101, you will not knock it out of time, and it will be easier on your hands.

I looked at both. Knowing that the SP 101 is probably stronger did not sway me. The feel, trigger and asthetics of the Smith and Wesson coupled with the fact that my "Papaw Vasco" toted a Smith won me over.

It was indeed a purely emotional buy and as many here know I had problems with the timing. It was dealt with buy Frank Smith of Lone Star Guns, an authorized Factory Repair center and I now have a perfectly timed revolver that has a great trigger with zero creep and that is accurate to boot. The Model 60 revolver is much more finely finnished than the Ruger SP101 imho.

Ruger .357 vs S&W

FYI - A good shop for .357 work is Mag-Na-Port, believe it or not. I sent them one of those 3" bbl. Postal Service Speed Sixes turned in when USPS went over to Beretta 96s. In addition to porting they chamfered cylinder holes, cut the forcing cone, bobbed hammer, relieved trigger guard, installed solid-color front sight blade, rounded the trigger and without asking (or charging extra) slicked up the trigger to equivalent of "pre-1970 S&W" standard. Really good work. I have a Wiegand "Tame the Beast" SP-101 coming from a trade, and am anxious to compare. I don't like .357 out of any of the J-frames and have tried them all.
