have already posted a reply elsewhere, but those of you who think this is just a harmless tactic on S & W's part haven't read the agreement (www.hud.gov/pressrel/gunagree.html)
for instance:
S & W agrees to make no gun models which will accept a preban mag!?
s & W agrees not to sell to dealers who allow buyers to carry more than one purchased handgun out of store on purchase date?!
required safety training of staff and buyers!?
Required training of staff by ATF?!
unlimited time frame for a Brady check!?
stop making guns which are "attractive " to criminals?! (who polls crooks on their favorite designs before releasing a new model?!)
No gun show sales unless ALL sales (insert : civilian sales) there go through background check?!
c'mon guys...S & W just stabbed us all in the back...their ceo just put all the pressure on the other makers to conform to similar agreements
And conveniently, gov't weapons are EXEMPT from the above restrictions..
I predict the Ruger and Glock will be the next to fall in line, since their CEO's are essentially anti-civilian gun ownership types who think they can survive on gov't sales. S & W even said that they could've lived just on gov't sales...civilians are only an after-thought to these companies!
