S&W finish coming off, how to fix/help?

I didn't mean to sound disparaging and I apologize if I did. However, I stand by my assertion, don't carry a gun you won't practice with.
 
I truly understand wanting to keep a gun nice looking, even a carry gun. Having said that, you need to think of your carry guns as tools. Don't abuse them but if they get dinged or something happens to the finish, it's a liberating experience. Then you don't have to worry about bumping it against a door or something else happening. The gun will still give you many years of good service.
