S&W Chiefs Special Airweight $213

I just bought this Chiefs Special Airweight (revolver on the left in both photos) for $213 US (I'm in Canada). It comes with the original box, the S&W papers, and the tools. The cylinder and barrel are steel, the frame is aluminum.

There is no model number on the frame under the yoke. It weighs only 12-13 ounces.

The serial number is 680XX.

I think it is a find, a pre M37, 3 screw roundbutt CS, I think it is a 1955.

I plan to shoot only wadcutters or .38 Special LRN through the old girl.
I thought Canadians were limited to guns with a 4¼" or longer barrel. How were you able to purchase this beautiful short barrel gun?

I buy them mainly with the hopes of saving them from the Kanadian government's smelters. Hopefully I can sell them to licenced gun folk in the US eventually.

The under 4" barrel revolvers are the ones I'm trying to save.

Nice collection you have there. I have a fondness for snubs too :) Thanks for your service :)

I have a Pre-Model 36 with a half-moon front sight and flat latch. The heavier brother to your 37 haha. You got a great deal!

That is quite a good price for a collectable S&W (double that would still be a good price in today's market). I have to wonder, do short barreled handguns bring lower prices in Canada because not everyone can legally own them (artificially shrinking the pool of potential buyers)?

Yes that is precisely the reason for the low prices on "Prohibited" firearms in Kanada. Since 1995 we can only buy or sell these firearms between the small number of aging licenced gun owners.

It's like the movie "Highlander" because in the end there will be only one............

I can't save all of the Prohibs but I think there is a chance that I can legally sell US made Kanadian Prohibs to US gun owners. So I look for and buy quality US made Prohibs. It's my way of giving a small finger to the communist Kanadian government.
