S&W 65, or am I certifiable?

Well actually....

My last M66 2 1/2 66-4 revolver cost $380+

And my S&W 19-5 nickel 2 1/2 I just got a few weeks ago was $373.

And my 66-3 was something like $320 a while back (as was my 686-3.. both in the same picture!)

And my 66-1 was a mere $250 way back (and the Ruger Swcurity Six with it was about that price to back then!)

Oh, did I tell you have this thing for snub Combat Magnums?

I posted on another thread (the S&W Quality thread) that old S&W revolver deals are out there--so good, I wondered why people pay so much more for new revolvers. I've gotten some very good deals lately.

The model 65 got here and I picked it up a few hours ago. Overall condition looks very good, with a few nicks and a little shallow rust under the grips. Locked up tight, no end shake. Timing looks right. The action is nice. When I disassembed it, the innards looked very good, springs are in good shape (although I'll go to a 13# rebound spring). As with all stainless guns, there's some carbon build up here and there, and the gun needs a polish. Looks like your basic police trade in, some dings but not shot much.

I have the cylinder and a bunch of parts soaking in hoppes, and the barrel is wet down as well. Once I get it cleaned up, I'll polish it a bit. Overall, very happy with my $341 purchase.

I'd get a 2.5" or 3" barrel with night sight up front and robust rear sights. I'd change the stocks, get the trigger tuned, cut it for moonclips and chamfer the charge holes.

So, yes, you should get several.

No, we don't encourage gun purchases here.

I realy enjoy my LadySmith 65, it has the benifit of the fully shrouded ejector rod and the sights dont cut my shorts pocket when it gets carried like my 66 2 1/2 did.
