S&W 640 649 or 642 with lazer grips?

hmmm

I ordered my 642 with crimson grips yesterday. I dunno about those sites you mentioned seems they may be prone to snagging no? They have some weird edges. Anyway I am sure I will love my 642 :)

There's a used 640 at my shop now. If it wasn't for the Crimson Trace grips, I'd buy it. Unfortunately, the seller didn't give me the option of buying them or not, and I don't want to pay for grips I don't like. Never thought the 640 would appeal to me but it's funny what a SP101 DAO can get you thinking about.... :D

I carried a 649, loaded with .357's, for about five years. I replaced it with the "beast", my 340SC. The 649 is the most accurate snub I've ever owned. I bought the 340 because of the weight savings. It is a bear to shoot with factory .357's but I practice with my light reloads.

I had the plastic CT's on the 649 and transferred them to the 340. They made recoil extremely difficult to control. I upgraded to the overmolded rubber CT's and am very pleased with them. Recoil is still bad but the rubber helps to dampen it.

I'm happy with both the Sc/Ti Smith and the rubber CT's. My carry ammo is Federal 130 gr Hydra Shok,

You WILL no doubt enjoy your 642. It is a fine gun. One benefit of the laser grips is they are a fine training device. Assuming you're not already the best you can be, you'll be able to get some snap caps and practice dry firing while watching the little dot. See the dot move inside 15 yards-practice some more. I've thought about some of them for this purpose.

Have fun with it.
