S&W 629 snub or Ruger Alaskan in 44 mag?

A short barreled 629 is as big as I want, the Ruger is a fine gun, but if I need a gun bigger than the 629 I'd just as soon use a carbine.

My Alaskan in 44 mag is quite simply the most fun firearm that I own. It doesn't really make sense for me to own one. Hell, I don't think the gun really makes all that much sense either. I don't need one to protect myself from bears and I certainly wouldn't conceal carry the thing which is often why short barrels make sense. But it is a giant hunk of steel with a short barrel and a giant muzzle flash. It is unbelievably fun to shoot and it fits my hand perfectly. If I can just do something about that terrible front sight blade it will be perfect.

Get the carbine.

Oh, wait, you weren't asking about rifles were you?

Come on guys, get with the program. And while you're at it, get the Ruger Alaskan and thank me later.
