S&w 19

It a tough call on which is "better", a 19 or a 27.

No one can argue that the 19 is a great packin' piece!

In a moment of idiocy years ago I traded my 2 1/2 inch 19 :(

19 for all round handy and easy carry with moderate .357s.

27 is the proper platform for full tilt n boogie .357s

Both wonderfull.

I have the exact same, escept mine has Hogue grips. It is my favorite 38. Magnums are ok, but I really like shooting 38 Specials in it.

Roger, I notice in that picture that your 19 has the rear sight cranked up real high. This is the same with mine. It made me kind of uneasy having to put so much elevation on the rear sight to zero it. Is this common on the 4" 19s ? I know on my 6" 19, the sight isn't near as high, I figured it was peculiar to the 4" but it stil didn't look right to me. Mine is about at the limit of it's elevation. In fact I turned the screw farther than I would have liked, I was afraid of damaging something.

It's still cranked up from an outing where I was shooting at a garbage can lid at about 350 yards or more. I was hitting it pretty regularly.

I had forgotten about it. I would have went to the range and launched a couple over the target!!! :)

Heck Roger, you were giving me some piece of mind there for a few minutes; now I am back to where I started. Mine is cranked up like that to acheive a 25 yard zero. I believe I was using 158 grain cast lead with 6.0 grains of Unique. Now I am back to believing that something is rotten in Denmark.

I still had to hold over the can lid, just no as far as when the sight is down.

At the range you're talking about, you shouldn't have to have it up anywhere near that high.
