S-a-t-u-r-d-a-y night! S-a-t-u-r-d-a-y night!

No pic but my first was an RG 14 in .22LR. 6 shot, unscrew rod, remove, tilt cylinder out and punch out the empties with rod. Neat little revolver. 1.5" BBL or there abouts. It was reliable with good ammo.

Same here
I remember it always went BANG :D

The Hunnerd-Dollar Gun

In this day of semi-custom guns that cost over a thousand dollars, it is good to look back on a time when all we wanted was a dependable, accurate sidearm; something that would suffice for a hike in the woods, or a jaunt back to our favorite bass pond. For most of us, these recreational forays began when we were teenagers, and didn't have lot of money to spend on fancy hardware. We traveled light and fast, and a good, cheap .22 pistol was a much sought-after commodity. All it needed to do was work reliably, and be accurate enough to kill a moccasin, or the occasional squirrel that was dumb enough to get within range. If it did all these things and was still small enough to stow in a tackle-box- well, so much the better.

These little guns do serve a purpose and can often be made quite serviceable with a little work. This NEF R92 is a personal favorite which has stayed in the stable for some time.

Don't think it's going anywhere soon, either... except maybe up in the timber to a bass pond I know about.

A Sterling that was too dangerous for its own good:

In its defense, it had about a lot of use before it became such a danger. But... there is only one way to eliminate dangerous weapons - Death by Firing Squad.

I have an RG 66 (.22 single six) I bought to help out a friend. I came with a beautiful holster and had fired only 6 rounds.
It just keeps on keepin' on with no failures...

Bought it new for $75 in the early 1980's. I really haven't had any problems with it but it's only had around 300 rounds through it. It rode in my glove box for many years before I knew any better.

That's probably the most handsome of all the SNS's
Yeah, and I would crow about mine and shoot it more if I could figure out how to keep mine from trying to eat my hand... (Looks at hand) Yep, still have a small scar from the last time I shot it.
Marty, that's just shameless... :p

Ive got one of those .25 acp titan deals. I got it from my mom who got it from someone else etc. I dont think it was ever shot until I got a hold of it. Went better than i expected anyway.

Yeah I don't know anyone that bought their SNS as a NIB purchase. They're always bought/given to their owners from a friend or somebody.

Also, it seems that many SNS's are bought/sold back and forth between friends whenever one of them needs/owes a couple bucks.

I've never had the gusto to pick up a cheap Jennings. I just hear way too many horror stories.

However, I did snag an Arminius .38 with a 4" bbl for $85. I've heard people slam them AND praise them. It's not my favorite gun in the world, but it's worked the few times I've practiced with it and it's a million times more handsome than a Hi-Point or Jennings/Bryco.

While I believe that firearms are "one of those things" where picking the brand name and spending a little more is the smarter idea, who says you can't take that bar money you just saved by not going out one night and picking up a nice cheap utilitarian piece of projectile-hurling glory?

Titan .25-- that brings back memories

My Father owned one of these back in the late 70's. He carried it with him over the road. If I remember right the tag on the box said $49. We went out to shoot it when he bought it. It would keyhole bullets at 10 feet. I don't remember it misfiring however.
I know he was very glad to have it at least once while in Detroit after dark.

I bought this one in 1965? for $3.00,,,

at a garage sale when I was 13,,,
It was my first handgun purchase ever.

In fact I had forgotten I even owned it,,,
About 2-3 months ago I opened a box that had been in storage since 1970.

.22 Shorts only,,,
I don't remember when the front sight fell off,,,
I do remember when my Dad caught me carrying it at 16 years old,,,
I told my Dad I took the front sight off so it would clear my pocket faster,,,
He said that was a good idea, because when someone took it from me and shoved it up my @$$,,,
It wouldn't hurt so much coming back out.

Times were different back then,,,

Sweet mother of God....
Run Away!

:D

Zamak Central is a collection of 26 Saturday Night Specials and all but three of them are in good working order - only one cracked frame.

The Excam G-27 (same as pictured by Mtn Biker) rides in my right front pocket most of the time. It's a snappy little SA pistol with 7 + 1 Winchester X-Points. Totally reliable for years.

Marty, that's just shameless...

Oh, I know!

My Taurus PT-22 would almost qualify, but it was somewhere around $225. And it has been perfect, one of the few if what I read about them is true. Strange thing is it is fed nearly a steady diet of Remington Yellow Jackets, a design that Taurus recommends against due to FTFs.

The only gun I have that truly qualifies is a single-shot shotgun, a CBC made in Brazil that cost me a blistering 28 bucks brand new in box. I've never fired it.
