It's Saturday night. Let's make it special. We always talk about good quality guns on here. Let's have a little fun on this thread.

How about some pics and stories about Saturday Night Specials?

The first gun purchased as broke kid, some el cheapo from the bargain table at gun show, an inherited piece, pawn shop pick-up, a ring-of-fire firearm, something you bought because you just had to see in it's craptacular glory...

You get the idea. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.Tell stories and/or post pics of some Saturday Night Specials. Doesn't have to be a revolver. Semi-functional semi-autos are welcome too. Funny stories, sad stories and eveything in between. Let's have it guys and gals.

I was inticed by the "Bay City rollers" title!:D

I don't really have a gun that should qualify, other than my Taurus 85ssul that Taurus has had longer than I have!

Look forward to reading some stories to make me feal better about my purchase!;)

I bought a whole bunch of 'em: Most of them are okay, and some will just plain surprise you, and some...:barf:
The first one I bought was a Jennings .22, but I didn't know anything about guns so when it constantly malfunctioned I sold it back. I hated that thing
Besides the ones that were bought off of gunbroker that were just plain wore out (2 of them) The worse one was a Clerke First in .32 S&W. I spent more on the ammunition than the gun, and only managed to get approx 85 rounds through it before the frame cracked from the ratchet hand to the firing pin hole.
My diamond in the rough still has to be my RG-63 Nitro proofed in Ulm in 1965

I'm glad you said that. I felt really out of touch for thinking the same thought! Maybe it's time to bust out the 8 track for nostalgia's sake. :D

My first handgun was a Beretta 92FS. I liked it so much, I got an Inox one and my brother made off with my original blued one.

I've handled Lorcin's and other pot metal "throw down guns" and I couldn't ever buy one if I had to.

No pic but my first was an RG 14 in .22LR. 6 shot, unscrew rod, remove, tilt cylinder out and punch out the empties with rod. Neat little revolver. 1.5" BBL or there abouts. It was reliable with good ammo.

Mine is okay... I think I need to pull it out and shoot it some.

When I was a kid, I shot my first deer with a single shot 16 gage that belonged to my great grandfather. I picked up pop bottles along the highway to get the 25 cents I need to buy three shot gun shells. 00 Buck. I had to ure all three and had to pry each hull out with my knife so I could reload.

I wanted that gun for a keep sake, (it is damascus barrels and not safe to shoot). Problem is, my nutty old aunt actually had custody. I tried to talk her out of it but she was afraid the bandits would get her and she need protection. (Her looks would have frightened away the meanest bandit in that part of the country).

Anyway I went and got a cheap RG 38 snubby to trade her. She was tickled pink. I dont think she ever bought ammo for it. But I still have the shotgun even though its worthless to anyone but me.

Here's one of the few guns I've had that would fit into that... distinct category. Although not as bad as some of the others, my understanding is, this little guy was actually made of steel rather than pot metal, but I could be wrong on that.

Surprised me how accurate it could be, and even had a surprisingly fair trigger. Just wouldn't shoot reliably no matter what ammo or how clean it was.

how about one of these, slide made out of melted down soup cans, and maybe a couple of beer cans thrown in to make it light. cast in two pieces, then welded together. weird, long, inconsistent trigger pull. recoil border line painful. and strange looking.

yeah, it's a intratec category 9 and ugly as sin. but despite it all, they are ok in the accuracy dept., but shooting them isn't that fun. they also made them in 45, i couldn't imagine shooting one of those. but i don't know if they were the same operation.

Sorry for your loss of Grant.

Personally, I've never has a Saturday night special unless you count an early KelTec P32. It was inexpensive, fired almost a full magazine of a small caliber ammo without jamming and IMHO would qualify if it was about $75 cheaper.

What about these Cobra 442 look-a-likes anyone evry handle one?

My daddy took this away from a drunk who thought he was a bad guy. Gave it to me in the early 70s. I carried it back then. No details, nobody hurt, but it saved my bacon for sure one night, back in those wild and crazy days. I may not ever shoot it again, but I will never part with it.

Those RG 14s were good little guns. Mine only misfired on some very old .22 shorts that also would not fire in my old Remington single shot rifle.

Where are all the Hi-Point owners? I thought they would be all over this one. How often do you get to brag about owning one? Not to mention probably "best in class" performance.

Most any <$200 guns qualify as Saturday Night Specials. (Denial is a not just a river in Egypt.)! I am sure there are more owners (or former owners) of cheap handguns on here.
