Russia Plans AK-47 Ammo Factory In Cuba

Spec ops may choose an AK47 to not announce Americans are there, sounds very different, don't want to leave American shell casings,

also if you're going to be imbedded for a while best to only need local ammo which of course most likely would be 7.62x39

^^^^

A good reason not to use a 45acp, instead of 9mm rounds.

I think its a great idea to arm our enemies with ammo manufactured in Cuba!! I think I'd rather buy a hand made 1911 from a Pakistani flea market.

Iowa - more rounds carried equals more kills. Im not talking about any spec ops etc and what they carry. Just your run of the mill 11 Bravo.

I am seriously considering sigging that, with all credit going to the author.

MTT- why?

Googled for about 2 minutes just now. About the 55 second mark Dick Marcinko talks about M16 vs AK47, he favors the AK and mentions logistics of 5.56 not being locally avail in most places.

Nobody wants to bring up the P90 with their mini 223 (5.7x28mm) :) I'm sure that's best for a different thread.

I thought wounding was the goal because it takes viable combatants off of the battlefield to tend to the wounded. Dead is just dead. The non-wounded fight on.

To whomever said that 7.62x39 is so much less accurate than 223 is a little off. The reason it gets a bad accuracy report is because most firearms built for this round are not not designed for hair splitting accuracy. CZ makes a bolt gun in x39 and when firing handloads or something like hornadys sst acurracy is just as good as 223.

Not really. That would make sense if it wasn't for the fact that ever since the 5.56 was put into service, we still haven't fought an enemy that really cared much for their wounded. Usually they just leave them on the field and then we're stuck dealing with them.

Just like civilians who carry for self defense, the military doesn't want to wound the guy, the want to stop him on the spot.
