Ruger Speed Six versus S&W Model 65?

In my area a 2-3/4" Security Six is not a common find at all. In my area if one did surface it would be priced at $500 or so. The $395 price is a bargain if the gun is clean.

Never owned a 65, but did have a 66 and it was a great gun. "Shooting loose" on a Smith is more than just timing. The main problem I had with my Smiths were endshake and mainsprings. I've had to add endshake washers and mainsprings on two Smiths, but I have never had to replace anything on my Rugers. After replacing these parts the guns were back in the saddle and functioned great. More of an annoyance than a big deal (easy fix). You would be happy with either.;)

Well, when I stopped back by the shop it was gone. Someone picked up a nice gun for a decent price. Oh well, I still have my 13 and 65 with 3" barrels.

And Joe, that is WHY I use lay-away!

If I see a gem I can't afford right now and they give me 3 to 6 months, sure slap down $50 or so and sit on it. I even keep a mobile cleaning kit in my car to clean the guns before they pick them up for me!

Just use lay-away if you see the right deal.
