I bought an SP101 in .357 magnum with a 3 inch barrel about six months ago. Primarily for a range gun. I liked it quite a bit. In mid-January of this year, I was in the local shop to browse and the owner told me to take a look at the used gun case there's a nice SP101 3 inch for $250. He knew I had an SP101 and I was looking for something else. I figured his mind was going in his old age and politely gave the gun a once over. Double-take. It was a 3 inch SP101 in 9mm. Now sitting in my safe. The gun didn' have a scratch on it and could have passed for new. I doubt it was fired anymore that a couple hundred rounds tops. That 9mm would probably be my choice for a range gun, but I like both so much I'm keeping them both. The 9mm came with Hogue rubber grips, but I've since replaced them with their checkered wood version (which I got for a steal off Hogue auction website, btw). My .357 still wears the standard Ruger grips (I bought wood inserts to replace the cheesy plastic). I find I like these grips quite well.
