Ruger SP-101 327 Mag

Do you care to elaborate? I've not heard of this before.

The first one I looked at had about a 3/8" section of the lower right front of the frame completely unpolished and had a very shoddy polish on the rest of the frame and barrel. the second one I inspected had tool marks still visible on the left side near the grip under the cylinder and the polish on the barrel had several V shaped areas that were unpolished, so bad it almost had a 2 tone effect. not the quality one would expect to get for $620 plus tax. I may go ahead and pick up the second one just because I want one. but it will be on its way back to ruger for completion of the polish job right after I pick it up.

I handled one at the NRA show this past weekend and it, as all Rugers, was well built and seems perfect for the niche.

To what niche is this gun or caliber being assigned? There is enough firepower and barrel length there for lots of applications. One way I could categorize it is as a belt carry gun, but there can be exceptions there too.

well I finally got off the dime.
I had not held a SP101 before so today I went to Fleet Farm and handled a SP101 in 357 mag.
Gun feels great in my hand and points nice.
So I came home and got a Buy it now on Gun Broker.

$599 w/ Free shipping and no CC fee.
There were a couple others that were advertised a little cheaper but charged $30 shipping and 3% on the card.
So this one came out the best buy available today.

So this makes three 327's for me.

A Taurus M327 2inch
A Ruger Single 7 5 inch
And now a Ruger SP101 4 inch.

That should cover me for a while until I find a good deal on a Ruger Black Hawk in 327..

Finally picked mine up (had arrived last week as the LGS), also grabbed some cheap Low Recoil Hydrashocks ($14/20) and will be trying some 100gr Gold Dots and American Eagle JSPs.

Finish on mine was actually good (same as .22 and .357 101s I have), looking forward to trying it out :-)

Its here!!!
Cleaned it up right away. This thing feels great in my hand.
Time to go have some fun.

Looks like the HKS 32J speed loaders work fine with this gun.
Good then I dont have to buy any different ones. They pretty much work with all my 6 shot 32 cal stuff.

After inspection, fit and finish seem fine to me. Nothing stands out any way.

After lunch I gave her a good cleaning. Then proceeded to put a little over 200 rounds through her.
From 75gr S&W short, poppers.
to heavy duty 100gr XTP's ahead of LIL Gun using SRP's

Accuracy was very good. Very good indeed.

I can tell you I am happy. I love shooting it. and thats what matters.
From my perspective, This is the correct match for this caliber.
I may want some bigger grips though.

Here is a group photo of all my 327's

SP101 rear sight. Does anyone know what spring I can buy for the rear sight elevation which is a little longer than the original? I'm shooting a little low and can't raise the rear sight because I'm at the end of the springs height.

Adventurer, I don't know about a longer spring but you might could put a small shim under the original to lengthen it.

Doyle I've been thinking on the shim - I'm going to put a small drop of elmers glue in the spring hole, let it dry, put the spring back in and give it a shot.
