Ruger single six Trade for a Mosin-Nagant

Never tired it with a firearm but I have done a fair share of auto body work. Properly degreased, spot and glazing putty plus wet sanding with 600 grit will make that revolver slick as snail slobber. Then one of the spray-on finishes used on firearms for a topcoat. Might turn out well.
I doubt that I will ever try it but some here might be inclined to do so.

CKPJ is correct, I'm not a fan of the mosins but that's not entirely where I base my opinion. If one wants or needs a low cost revolver for woods bummin or riding under the seat of the truck than options are becoming less and less available. And truth be told today's truly cheap options are pretty bad. Given bore condition and function this gun may indeed be a chance to pick up a true quality "beater". There just isn't very many revolvers left in a mosin price bracket that are as functionally good as even the most beat SS. Even the decent H&R's have dried up and what's left has shot up in price.

I wouldn't however spend one second thinkin about making it pretty or even OK. Clean it, check for function and accuracy, carry/shoot the crap outta it.

Real cost of Nagant revolver

It seems like there are at least a few people who suggest you go for this trade. Just to put things in perspective, I'd like to share that I recently (about a month ago) sold one of my Nagant revolvers on Armslist. It was a plain-Jane from 1944 in good condition with about 300 rounds through it. Slightly pitted bore, a bit of external wear -nothing special, just another Nagant. I listed it for $200 and sold it within two days to a local guy for a full asking price. In two days it was listed I had 4 or 5 offers all of them over $150.

This should give you a pretty good idea of what you are trading and what you are getting. Do you think this Single Six worth $200? If you do, go for it. But for another $100 you can get used Single Six in decent condition. Is it worth it? Your call! Good luck.

That thing looks like It was dropped into the campfire!
I wouldn't trade my $69.95 (several years ago) Hungarian M44 M/N with a bore that looks like a gravel road.

But a 91/30 is not a revolver.

That Ruger looks worse than the Colt 1860 Army my grandfather left me and that thing is in rough shape. I've never seen any Ruger in that kind of condition, I'd be wondering where it came from personally. Glad you didn't make that trade, you did the right thing.

The MN is barely a $100.00 rifle.
If the bore on the SS is OK this would be a very good trade.
I would do it just on the chance the SS is good and you know the MN is nearly worthless.

I can’t believe the gun looks so bad and the grips look fine.
What’s the chance it’s been in a fire with the grips replaced?

We did end up making a deal to trade he is giving me a Heritage .22 with 50rds of 22 and 50 rounds of 8mm mauser for a 91/30 and accessories. Im supposed to meet him tomorrow I will let you guys know how it goes.

Alright so we met today and im pretty happy. I didnt think i would like this heritage this much!

I got the Heritage with the case and paper work. 50 rds of 22lr and 50 rds of 8mm mauser For my 91/30

When I saw the thread title my first thought was "Somebody is getting a great deal!"- then I saw the Ruger. Normally a Single Six is about twice the price of a Mosin Nagant but not in this case.

Now it's a much better deal. Especially if you are happy with it.

Don't run that 8mm Mauser through your 91/30 unless it's 7.52x54r

I love people that think if anything goes wrong with the revolver Ruger will happily replace cylinders and what have you, despite the condition it was purchased in. They have great customer service but not to the point of just giving things away because someone made a bad trade. Last time I checked, Ruger isn't in the business of rewarding stupidity.

I have to wonder how the OP considered making this trade for even a nano second. A post along the lines of "look what this jerk offered me for my. .." would make sense.
