Ruger Single Six 32 H&R

From what I have read the 327 is dead, I will admit that the 32H&R ammo is not on every shelf but I reload so if I do decide to get this gun I can roll my own. I have also heard that some people have reamed out these guns to accept the 327 rounds so.... I did call them today and it is still there, I think I will swing by in the next few days and check it out again.

top pair in this pic are Single Sixes in 32 H&R magnum... they are highly prized by the CAS gamers... I like my 45's better ( 3rd pair down ), & the 2nd set down are the ones MRS uses in 38 / 357... the 32 mag has a great potential for accuracy, though I think "most" of the Single Sixes are fixed sight guns like mine...

BTW...I also have an Air Light J Frame in 6 shot 32 H&R Magnum ( I like it, as it has an extra cartridge over the 38's )

BTW #2...Midway has brass albeit nickel cases but they have 32 Mag cases in stock...

I honestly haven't messed with loading for this one much... I have some soft lead hollow based wadcutters I started playing with for target accuracy, but got side tracked by another cartridge before I got where I was going with that one :o

Magnum Wheel Man, that is an awsome collection and a great way to hold/show them. I am thinking about picking up this one but I really hate to add a new addition/caliber but ..... I also have seen these guns with S&W J frame sights added to them. Has anyone done something like this? I know Alan Harton has done this before, I have seen a few pictures on Google.

I been toying with the idea of picking up a .32 H&R Single Six if I ever run into one. I reload and all the components are readily available, so that wouldn't be a problem. In fact that is the whole reason of me thinking about it.... As a .22 reloadable replacement :) . Load 'em up to .22 Velocities (who needs .327 velocities when there is the .357) with a light bullet and have a cheap shooting cartridge without having to rely on manufactures of the allusive hard to find .22LR cartridge.

O ya I have seen them on there, It was just something that had popped into my head, I wont end up doing it, but its just something that was floating around in there. I did end up going back and I put it on lay-a-way:D I just could not say no after it sat there for over 2 weeks.:o

was going back through, & don't think you ever mentioned if the gun is blued, or polished stainless ( from my pic, you can see my preference ;) ) though there is nothing wrong with a blued gun, & lately I've really been grooving on the case colored look of the Uberti's that I've been using lately for a couple custom projects...

BTW... the grip frame should be the same as my custom snubbie 45 Colt ( since they didn't offer them back when I did the conversion, & that's actually a single six grip frame ) I really like it, so much so, that I am probably going to switch out my regular cowboy Montado's grips with birdshead grip frames...

I've kinda been looking at the brass Colt Lightning style, since my companion lever gun is brass & stainless...

This one is the color case frame gun with the 4 5/8 barrel with a set of aftermarket slim wood birdshead grips. While I do perfer stainless most of the time, I will get what I can of this example (I also just picked up a color case Uberti 357 birdshead 5 1/2 so I know what you mean about them). I went digging around in my parts bin and already found the Bisley hammer that I'm going to install on this gun. I did the same thing on my birdshead 3 1/4 SS Vaquero 45C and love it so this gun will get the same treatment. Now to start getting some reloading stuff together, anybody got any loads they would like to share? I will start out with some Unique and see where I go from there. Thanks everyone for your imput so far, I cant wait.:D

Does anyone have any pet loads that they would share? I am looking for a bunny fart loads and a nice magnum load for the trail.

Thanks

Smee congrats on a fantastic gun in one of my favorite calibers. Here are some suggested loads.

With a Hornady 85gr bullets I like 12grs of Hogdon L'il Gun. With a 100gr Hornady 11grs same powder. The 85gr load gets 1305 from a 5.5" Ruger SS and 1250 fps from a 4" barreled SP 101 I use to own. These are pretty accurate from the 32 mags I own Including a Marlin 1894 I am lucky enough to own.

For pop gun loads try about 2grs of Bullseye with a lead bullet of about 100grs weight. I have two Lee molds for this caliber and they are accurate. Especially the 94gr SWC that sorta looks like a Crayola point. Also try some wad cutter bullets. They are just as accurate as their 38 caliber counterparts and darn nice to shoot. Lee use to make an 85gr Wadcutter mold but they have dropped it and have no plans to make them again. I called and asked. But Speer and Hornady both have swaged WC bullets plus some other smaller casters make them. These are good trail bullets for plinking and small game hunting.

I also loaded some 94gr lead with 1.5grs of Bullseye and from the Marlin got 900fps and they were as quiet as CB22s.

My Holy Grail gun for years was an S&W model 631 in 32 mag. I finally found one at a price I could afford. And justify. It cost me $670.00 with shipping. What a cool little gun. But after shooting it I found out I still like the two Ruger Single Six 32s I own better. Mine are the adjustable sighted models. I did have one of the fixed sighted models and liked it as well. Just someone else liked it better.

My dad was a big fan of 32 caliber guns and so was my uncle the cop. He supplied his wife with a snubby 32 for protection. The movie "Death Wish" made me interested in the round. Now I have 3 S&W revolvers in 32 long with 2, 3, and 4" barrels and also a S&W 431 PD in 32 mag that stays in my nightstand. It weighs 15oz loaded and slips into my pocket for checking out things that go "bump" in the night without anyone knowing I am armed.

I hope you enjoy your 32 as much as I enjoy mine.

Hey Ratshooter,

Thanks for sharing, I would love to own one of the Marlins and one of the Smiths, mabye one day I will stumble onto some I can afford. I just got my dies and some S&W long cases so hopefully I can load up some and get to the range this week. I also got some of the double ended wad cutters so I guess some bunny fart loads are first up :)

Thanks Yall

I have the Single Six adj sights in a Bisley.

When Starline has some brass in stock, get 500 or 1000.It lasts a long time.

There are some zippy H-110 loads for a 115 gr swc.I have a bunch of Lasercast.

A really pleasant load for small game and plinking is the Fiocchi 32 S+W target wadcutter.

I'm keeping mine!
