Ruger Redhawk Discontinued?

I was just in a local store who has close ties to Ruger and always moves ruger peices. I stop in every couple of weeks to check on ammo (they don't up the price, so you get deals.. but it goes fast). Two weeks ago they were out of ruger revolvers except for a couple of BlackHawks and a few LRCs. Today they had about 6 or 7 Redhawks in the display case.

So.... ??

It can take a while for things to trickle down through distribution networks, no telling when they were made.

Added to which that while Ruger tries not to stockpile guns in-house anymore, it's also possible that some could have been sitting there in various stages of completion for a bit before going out.

I talked to their CEO several months ago & the two contacts I mentioned last night, passed on my best info.
They all agreed the Red was out of production, but would be back.

You notice it's still missing from the website.

Even when they were in production it was just about impossible to find a .45 Colt Redhawk. Shame because the times when I had the money to pony up and buy one, they were nowhere to be found.

Here's a brand new one listed on Gunbroker with a fired case of Jan 2014,
Must be an awful lot of parts cleanup going on...

Come on now. Exceptions don't disprove the rule.
Sure does seem to be a lot of exceptions showing up. Look at the barrel markings. This is clearly new production. 13 feb 2014 test date.

Can anyone tell us what the most recent caliber/barrel lengths were. I assume that the blued models were dropped long ago?

Before Ruger stopped cataloging them the Redhawk was available in 44 Magnum with 4.2", 5.5" and 7.5" barrels and 45 Colt with 4.2" barrel, all in stainless steel. The blued Redhawk was dropped in 2007 or 2008 I believe, and at that time it was only offered with a 5.5" barrel.

My Redhawk 45 Colt cylinder is r-e-a-l-l-y big, so think twice about carrying, especially concealing this bad boy. Even at 4.25" barrel length, I prefer cross draw, partly for weight distribution.
