Ruger PC9 or PC4 carbines

Could Marlin make a 9mm or .40 lever gun or does the action require a rimmed cartridge?

I have an 1894P in .44 magnum- the baby "Guide Gun"- and I love it.

Ruger PC4 vs Marlin lever

Have both PC4 & Marlin in 44mag my favorite rifles in a large collection. I use the PC4 for bowling pin matches at my club ...I consistantly beat the guys with the AR's & Ak's . It cant be beat for quick follow up shots at 40 ft and hits plenty hard with the 180 gr lead.

On the other hand , for hunting & shooting on the 200yrd range ...tough to beat the old 44 mag ...plink with light specials or handloaded light mags and anyone can shoot it. Load with 180 gr max loads and you have a great 200 yrd gun that competes with any rifle.

Dont try to figure which is better ...there is no looser here - you need both !

Cool, huh? Sometimes I love reading these old threads. I'm a Marlin lever gun nut myself, and owned a Camp 9 for awhile. I've been intrigued by the Ruger PC series and never had the opportunity to fire one. I think they would certainly have their applications for home defense, especially for people who don't manage recoil well of semi auto handguns.

I love my PC9 and just had it out today as a matter of fact. I only wish that Ruger had offered PC45 in addition to the PC9 and PC4 before they were discontinued. :D

Some Walther & Ruger mags are interchangable with minor mods.

Today I noticed that my Walther P99c pistol clip is ALMOST exactly like my Ruger PC40 carbine clip.

Simply by drilling holes in each for the release pin, they became interchangable.

I might as well add that at least some of the Beretta mags will work in the PC4. Again, you have to drill another magazine catch. May also work in 9mm, I don't know.

I bought a Marlin Camp 45 years ago and really enjoy shooting it. I have a Pro Point red dot and it is accurate as can be for the short ranges I intended it for. Over the years I have scavenged a couple of thousand 9mm which prompted me to get a 9, as I never had one. I ended up getting a P95 and a PC9, which I also have a red dot on and it will make a single ragged hole at 25 yards with no hang ups. The main reason I like mine is that my petite teenage daughters can shoot it without any discomfort and I keep it loaded in the upstairs bonus room for them in case of emergencies. A short little carbine like this is much easier for them to shoot than any handgun, and having two 15 round clips gives them plenty of "opportunity" to stop a bad guy...

Back from the dead a thread is bumping along

I have Ruger PC9 and have owned it since 97. I will admit it is heavy, mine was an earlier version without ghost rings. Accessories marketed for it wer scarce and we were left to experiment as to what goodies would and would not work. I have mine decked out pretty well now and love it. Granted it is a niche tool and will be treated as such. I have a quick detach three point sling, rail and scopae than can be snatched quickly for return to iron sites. I have a light and laser mounted. When I can use surplus thompson mags carriers for 30 round mags, I can hit the range for some pretty realistic training, malfunction drills etc.

Sorry for such a late edition to the party here but I love the PC 9 and due to the universal availabilty of the 9mm it will always be in my collection.;)
