Yep and with a double thick belt and suspenders you'll be able to carry that overweight, over priced, boat anchor.

As mentioned earlier, Ruger is a principle reason why we have the 10-round limit on mags -- ALL mags ... not just his products. Those that point the finger at S&W need to realize that S&W agreed to some [pretty major] restrictions on THIER products but it had no bearing on other makers since dealers were free not to abide by the agreement as long as they didn't carry S&W products. The 10-round mag limit had an effect on EVERYBODY.

Taurus has stepped up their quality control immensely in the last 12 months or so. If you haven't handled or shot one recently, I suggest that you do so before you take them to task on that issue. They used to lag WAY behind Ruger and S&W in that department, but no so anymore.

I'd buy either the Taurus 605 or the Ruger SP-101 with confidence. It ought to come down to a matter of how the firearm fits the hand of the person who will be using/carrying it. The rest of the questions (accuracy, quality, etc.) are a wash.

I prefer the Ruger over the Taurus.

If that is the one your wife wants that is an even better reason to buy it. If the gun is for her get the one she wants, she's more likely to practice with it. (so long as it's not trash)

Ok, here's my story FWIW. I currently own 3 Taurus revolvers and 1 Taurus pistol. I have not had ANY problem with any of them. I have found them to be reliable, accurate, and an excellent buy. I also have 2 Ruger revolvers and have absolutely no complaints there either.

I purchased a Taurus 605CH some months back and after 50 rounds or so I started having a problem with it. The chamber started locking and not rotating. I would have to open the cylinder and close it again to clear it. At first it was only on the second round fired, then it was more random. I debated on sending it back to Taurus, they do have an excellent warranty and I'm sure they would have corrected the problem. However, I decided for a CCW, I would never feel comfortable with it again. I have heard that this is not an uncommon problem with this model. A friend of mine, who is an amateur gunsmith liked the gun and wanted it. I made him aware of the problems, sold it to him at a small loss and never looked back.

I would and will buy Taurus again, no problem. However, based on MY experience I couldn't recommend this particular model.

The recoil was decidedly stout, but with practice manageable. The grips and fit were absolutely perfect for me.

As I said, just one man's story FWIW.
