Ruger or Glock?

I don't particularly go for the "Go to any IDPA competition and see what the majority are using" analogy. A lot of people when they go out to buy their first handgun or whatever go for what is in "fashion", I have seen it numerous times in the gun shops. I did the Glock thing, shot it well, but the gun wasn't for me. Traded it and got a Ruger P94, I definetly shoot better with the Ruger over the Glock. If at all possible you should go out and try them before you buy. If the Glock is what he handles best get the Glock, if the Ruger is what is handled best get the Ruger.

Rob,re: going to mathces to see whats popular, I said to see what works and what doesn't. By the way, does anyone know if Ruger autos have been used by any law enforcement agency?

Ruger P90 with a Hogue grip. You'll have enough $$$ left over for about 1000 rounds of bullets.. I think the Ruger with the Hogue feels MUCH better than the Glock. Both are reliable and durable, and you'd be hard pressed to actually shoot either to death..

Well, more cops are buying Glocks than SIGs, even the chaeper polymer SIGs. FBI went from 9mm SIGs to 40 Glocks and scores went up. I heard Arkansas State Police went from SIG 40s to Glock 40/45s. NYPD dropped SIG, added Ruger to their list of approved guns.

OTOH, the Alameda county cops went from Glock 40s to SIG 357s... :)

They all work; they won't all work best for you.
