Ruger Mk II ammo feeding problems

Remington Ammo, HAH!

Just tried to shoot 500 of them and about 20% didn't go off in either my Mk II or my S&W 422. Crap.

Here's a tip: lay the Mk II mag on its back (where the backs of the cartridges are) and slack off the tension to let the bullets all point "up."

Another: always use High Velocity ammo.

Another: Replace your extractor with one from Volquartsen. Takes three minutes.

Regards.

I have the same pistol, with a 6" bull barrel, and had the same problem, using the remington $8/550 rnds @ Walmart. Some Mags OK, some jam 2-3 times.

Using "Yellowjackets" I had no problems - other than bunnies running too fast :)

My mark II has no problms with remingtons at all, either the cyclones or thunderbolts. Also works great with pmc sidewinders federal lightnigs Aguila high velocity and so on. The only thing it does not work with is the winchester XX bulk holowpoint bulk packs. The markII and 10/22 both jam every other round with those things:( guess ya just gotta try a bunch and stick with what works in your gun.

ps my friends Hammerli also works with the above rouds and jams with the same winchesters.

pps winchester wildcats seem to be ok

The inexpensive Rem Goldens work great in my Mark II. In fact I've been trying a lot of different ammo lately--they are shooting the best groups. The inexpensive Federal stuff jams in mine....

Meowhead,
I have the exact same problem.
Jacketed/plated bullets run fine.
Lead bullets get stuck in the same manner you described.
The lead seems to be too soft or ramp too sharp.

Anyone with suggestions or advice on this sticky situation.
