Due to my states stupid 1 gun a month law I have to wait till the 28th to Dross it then another 10 days waiting period but have to stay legal here. then its all mine

Does anyone here have one already and can tell me a little about it?

Gary

Look on page 11 of the "revolver checkout" (stickied post) for a discussion of what loads work best with what weight class of gun. At 17oz the LCR357 is too light for many of the "real" 357 loads but there are some very good "357 Lite" rounds that will work about as well as a good 9mm+P out of a respectable sized gun like the Glock 19 - in other words, plenty for social work.

I have one that I bought for my CCW gun. I really like it a lot. Accuracy at 7 yards is very good and those hogue tamer grips really help with recoil. I fired about 150 rounds at the range when I broke it in using the whole spectrum from .38 and +Ps and a variety of .357 magnum loads. I decided my carry round will be Remington Golden Sabers in .357 magnum 125 grain loads. Easily controlled without the hard kick of the Federal .357Bs I like in my GP-100, while still providing good stopping power. I tried 158 grain and 180 grain full power magnum loads and although the LCR did not mind them my hand certainly did.

Gratz on the buy!

The .357 / .38 flexibility is definitely something the LCR has going for it. I use the .357's for hiking, and .38 +P any other time. I hope it treats you well; I think it'll be worth the wait.

I carry the Ruger LCR in 357 Magnum.

A full tilt 357 SD load is a handful with it, but it's nothing that I did not easily overcome with a little training, I personally shoot 158 grain ammo out of mine because that was the most accurate. It also appears that the sights on my LCR are regulated for 158 grain ammo.

When I practice with mine, I shoot stoutly loaded 158 grain LSWC .357 ammunition, then finish off with 20 rounds of real .357 Magnum SD loads, any more than about 20 rounds of that stuff in one sitting and my hand will start to hurt.

I shot one quite a bit and for me it's a handfull with 125 grain .357 magnums and after just a couple of 158 grain .357 magnum rounds I said 'no more of that!' and I meant it too.

Like others have said the gun will handle the 158 grain rounds it's just my personal preference that I won't. I gladly will respect anybody that absorbs that punishment.

I did NOT get to shoot any .38 specials out of it and would have liked to. Mostly to find out what a follow up shot COULD be with the little gun.

Once again I think you've got a very nice small revolver. Just for kicks I tried it in a front jeans pocket and it fit FINE but you are not going to forget it's there like you could with a Ruger LCP.

Just got to shoot one of these yesterday morning. I shot a 158 grain .38 special LSWCHP from Buffalo Bore. It shot well for me. Followup was pretty quick. I like this little revolver. I don't know if I could bring myself to buy one over an SP101, but I do like it.

I have much the same opinion. I have over 3000 rounds through my LCR 357. It's an every day carry gun. Sometimes it's a main carry with a S&W442 as back up and sometimes it's in my pocket backing up a SP101. I got it about Four years ago and shot mostly 357 reloads. Full house factory 357 was pretty hot. 38 +P was a lot of fun and accurate. 38 special was boring. Now that Artharitis has set in I practice with 38 special and carry 38+P.

I've shot one in the past. I found .357 to be uncomfortable and moderately hard to control. It's a pussycat with .38s, though!

I think Ruger sure is selling a lot of these Lightweight Compact Revolvers in the .357 magnum caliber, based on all the "LCR 357" threads I've been seeing!

I can understand why! They seem to by nice guns. 5 shots of lightweight, ultra reliable, devastating manstoppers in a pocketable package?

YES PUH-LEEEEEEZE!!!!! :D

What state are you in?

What state are you in?

I'm in California they claim its to prevent the sudden gathering of an arsenal so you are limited to 1 handgun purchase a month. but truth is its just a incremental attempt to discourage ownership. Wildest thing is South Carolina and Virginia who enacted the same stupid law 1st later repealed them

30 days over just started the Back ground check and the 10 day waiting period. Then its MINE YAY!! The 8th can't get here fast enough.

Interesting manual paragraph

It cautions that due to lack of weight compared to other 357's one should check after firing 4 rounds to see if there is any bullet unseating in evidence on the 5th round

One more day and its mine :-) YAY!!!
