Ruger LCP Custom vs. Taurus TCP

Scattcat, it seems that you answered your own question, but before you get one, try out the M&P Shield first.

Good Luck.

Normaly I stay away from mouseguns.

But, I do have a fondness for my Kel-Tec P32. Mine is the new extractor version. Came with some kind of coating on the slide that is tan. Got it for $100 about 5 years ago. Works perfect. Shot it many times and I keep Silvertips in it (but that is cause I got a real good deal on some of them. Normally I use FMJ.)

And yes, I've thought long and hard about a .380 version. Of the pack I find the Ruger, being a better made rip-off of the P3AT, and not expensive at all, a good deal. The Ruger LCP Custom is just icing on the cake. I like the Glock 42/43 but they cost almost as much as a Glock 26..

Anyway yes I favor the Ruger over the Taurus. Not hate here but experience. Seen to many Taurus products not work out well.

Might ever get me one of those Ruger LCP Custom jobs one day. Still a mouseguns but it's a real good mousegun.

I think the true purpose of the LCP is a pocket gun. Thats the only way I will carry mine. I only carry it when I can't carry anything else. I would definitely pick it vs the TCP. Not a huge Taurus fan, but I do have a model 85 that I like. One thing to think about with the custom model is the big sights. For pocket carry they seem like they could snag pretty easily. Just my opinion. All depends on how you will carry it.

I have an earlier (Model 74) nickel-plated, .32 S&W Long, Taurus revolver. The long, hard DA trigger pull it the handgun's only drawback. The revolver was made on the "I" frame machinery purchased from Smith & Wesson.

Their pistols frighten the snot out of me. Too many tails of documented faliures: Extractors, frames, poor QC, ad nauseam. No thanks.

Ruger gets the nod.

I agree with you on the sites and putting it in your pocket. That's how I would carry it also. I worried about the snagging also. But having shot the gun quite a bit and having shot quite a bit other 380's including some heavier ones the recoil on LCP Custom is really not bad at all. That's a winner for me.
