Ruger Hatred- Why

I had a P89dc not 95. The 95 is a lot better. I was just looking at a, I think Bearcat .357 for $325. Looked great. I also like the GP100. At 5-7yds I don't think accuracy is as important as reliability.

I've always loved Rugers. I've faced several bears with a Ruger rifle. I did own a P-90 once. I even had it worked over by a good gunsmith. It would occasionaly not lock up. I could hit with it, but I just couldn't trust it. I think this is more of a 45 problem by my past experiences. I traded it off. Glock 33 is my current love.

I used to own a P89. I traded it, and a Walther P99 for a Glock 19. Neither were bad weapons, in any way, they just did not fit my hand. I tried to get used to them. I tried different grips, but in the end it was a no fit. My KP95DC,however is a different story altogether. This little gem is accruate (2in group @ 15yds), reliable, fits my hand, and in no way shape or form is ugly. I used this gun to pass my state's (AZ) CCW proficiency test. It serves as my wintertime CCW gun. (It is a little big to be carrying in 115 deg heat.) Anybody who diss's Rugers is either ignorant, or a rabid, unthinking owner of something else (usually Glock) who hates Rugers for "political" reasons.

I hate reading about hole-in-hole groups and otherwise small clusters. I save that for my rifles. :D

Took my sister out to the range yesterday. She has not shoot in about 3 years. Well,,,,,,,,She Kicked My BUTT. Hard. She was shooting the BHP great but then looked like an expert with the G19. She grouped with the P220 the best but the recoil of the fat .45's started to pound her 105lbs body. She didn't like the SA1911. Sorry Mcshot, this doesn't help our egos, but I am proud.

i own two Ruger rifles and a Ruger pistol and i have never had a problem with any of the three guns ever. if you take care of them and keep them clean they will last forever.dont listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. Ruger provides simlpy the best firearms for the price available.

In a situation where you actually need a functioning handgun, the Ruger you can afford is a lot better than the Glock/SIG/Beretta or whatever you're still saving up for. I don't think showing the mugger a layaway slip from Glocks'R'Us will help. :)

The Rugers I've owned and handled justify the Chevy Truck analogy -- they may not be high-zoot, but they can do the job. They go bang when you pull the trigger and are accurate enough to hit a bad guy at 25 feet if the shooter does his part.

Personal fit is an issue, though. I find the Ruger autos a bit big & clunky for my small hands. Ditto the S&Ws, with the exception of the Smith & Walther 99 when the small girp insert is installed. I hope more manufacturers get into the idea of changeable grips on autos. The only ones I know of are the P99/SW99 and the sig pro (their marketing department insists on lower case bold italics for that name -- why, I don't know).

I can't help but get the feeling that Rugers (and revolvers) have no problems to complain about so folks don't like them. It looks like a lot of the people on here would rather complain about their guns not working than have guns that work.

MCSHOT;
Should I tell you about my groups with a sig 220?My P-90 just was grossly inaccurate.I could have taken it out to Ruger(about 10 miles away from me)but was feed up with it.I like there MK 1 and 11 and they make about the strongest wheel guns ever built.

I own a P-90T and a P-97 and plan to purchase a P-944 in the near future. I have big hands so the P-90 fits find. My P-90 shoots groups of 3-inches@50yards and 1.50-2-inches@25yards with CCI .45ACP 230gr ammo, I do better with Speer 230gr. but the price hurts(save Speer ammo for self-home defense). By God, thats good enough accuracy for me. Its not like I will enter those pistol matches or shoot at target of 100yards. If I shoot at targets of +100yards I use my rifles, boys. All I need is for a good, reliable, feeding all type ammo handgun. Thats the Ruger guns for ya. I do own from the least expensive(Davis) handguns to the high ($Wilson combat) end handguns and to tell you the truth, the Rugers performs just as well as my Wilson and Kimbers but without $$$ and the pickiness of ammo. Many Ruger bashers say,"the Ruger lacks accuracy, the grips are too big, they are bulky". Thats all they have to say about the gun, but not ALL say that. But even the best handgun has its fault, as every tool does. Nothing a human has done is perfect you know. I will continue to own every gun in the market, for I am not prejudice of a person, place, or even a tool.

I've owned a P91 since '94. It was my first autopistol. I will never part with it for purely emotional reasons.

The only malfunctions that I have ever had involved mis-sized reloads, and really soft lead reloads that gunked the gun up after half a box so that the rounds started to nose dive on the feed ramp. Other than that it has gone through thousands of rounds with out a problem. I've shot it in the rain and in the snow, and it has always worked great. Yes it is bulky, but this is not a CCW gun.

The accuracy of mine is only ok, my best five shot groups at 25' are passable, and would work for what the gun was intended for. I don't blame this on the gun as much as I blame it on the shooter (me). I once let a guy at the range who was a big time IPSC shooter use my gun. I was surprised what that Ruger could do in a good shooters hands!

The trigger pull is not that great, DA is heavy, and SA has a lot of squishy take up. On the P97s and P95s that I have dry fired at the gun store, it is obvious that the trigger pulls have improved quite a bit.

I prefer single action guns now just because thats what I find shoots the best for me. But I would never ever feel undergunned with a Ruger auto. In fact I really kind of want a P97 just to have. I think that the price is great. If I was starting over again, and looking to spend less that $400 the Rugers would be at the top of the list.

It's funny...my younger brother used to love Rugers until he took the gunsmithing program at Yavapai College in Arizona. Then he became a gun snob. He says the Rugers are "farm tools" in that they are (admittedly) rugged and work every time. To him, they are just not as "precise" as Colts,S&W's, etc. Of course, he has to admit that the Colts and S&W's are also more finicky and fragile...not extremely fragile, just more so that the Rugers. My experience with Ruger has been great, although the Bisley 44 mag I bought last year has not proven to be all that accurate. My stainless MKII bull barrel .22 will keep 50 rounds of inexpensive Walmart bulk ammo in the black and put many of them through the same hole. I couldn't ask for more than that! I own Colts and S&W's too...I'm not prejudiced against any well-made handgun!

Buying a Ruger is like going to the prom with your mom. You love her but it's still your mom.

It's like kissing your Aunt Bonnie. Yuck!

Ruger makes good "Value" guns.

But then again, guns are big boy toys and if you can't play with a Glock, Sig, HK, Browning, etc, people think you're out of the loop.

Ruger semi-auto's have not been known for their accuracy just their durability.

The Ruger tends to be people's first gun when they're on a budget and they tend to dump it for a more expensive gun when their budget permits.

I'd buy a Ruger Mini-14 in .223, a PC9 carbine in 9mm, or even one of their revolvers but for a semi-auto - there's a whole world of great guns for a little more $.

BTW - Ruger semi-autos look like polymer 2 by 4s!

Generally I think you make some good points and I won't disagree, but I do think that being a gun owner and caring whether people think I am "out of the loop" are contradictory. There are a lot of people who, misguidedly in my opinion, think that all gun owners are out of the loop. Part of Life's journey is getting over caring what people think about matters of common sense or taste. What they think about my character has import. What they think about my fondness for Rugers is less than irrelevant. I generally find that people who share the same traits that I like about Rugers, i.e. frugality, strength, reliability, unpretentiousness, etc., are the people I like the most...whether they are in the loop or not. There is nothing dishonorable about being a good farm tool. I wish more people, including me, were more like that.

If owning a Ruger is like kissing your aunt then I guess when you pay $500+ for a Glock, Sig or HK and it has to be sent back to the factory NIB like I have had happen before then that would be similar to catching the clap from a pretty Whore.

I know of one multi-millionaire who likes Ruger, he sired my wife.
